The smart Auburn football fans are lining up to get their pictures taken with the BCS trophy right now, while it's still in the school's possession.

No college team in America was going to beat that 2004 USC team.

I remember the National Title game. It was a beatdown. Reggie Bush didn't play defense either. If I recall correctly, USC's defense put on a clinic and gave their offense great opportunties (as if they needed any help). I remember the Trojans defense forcing alot of turnovers in that game so it wouldn't have mattered if Reggie was in or not on offense since they had too many explosive weapons besides Bush.
The game was such a beatdown that it didn't matter if a guy or two was elgible or not. Just a really, really great team that year the Trojans had IMO.

That game made TE Fred Davis a #1 draft pick. He had a helluva game making all kinds of acrobatic catches. The Auburn team from that year is being looked at for paying players. HBO sports did an expose and several of the players on that team admitted to taking money, so no, Auburn did not need to be in that game and OU probably would have walked the field with them. That team barely beat Va Tech. And for those that said Auburn was not motivated, the previous year USC was passed over and went to the Orange Bowl and destroyed a pretty good Iowa team with a ton of drafted players on their roster.

Every starter on that USC defense was drafted in the top half of the NFL draft with the exception of Matt Grutegood.

There is nothing the NCAA can do to wipe out the championship USC won in 2004. When you carry the coach off of the field after a beatdown, you can't go back and change the outcome. They were the best team by far, and cashed my ticket. Gave Whormoan shit too, which was icing on the cake.

Here's my suggestion to the NCAA. Instead of punishing the current group of kids and coaches if you want to punish the school, make them pay back the monies they made from their bowl game, conference title or BCS game. This way, the administration will pay more attention to whats going on when they have to write a check for over $5mil to the NCAA for continued infractions. Make the payments incremental as well.

And while their writing checks, make them vacate their BCS bowl win too like USC had to do.

I really dislike this decision. I don't believe what Reggie Bush did was right but we all know stuff like that goes down in college sports all the time. It's not like Bush's benefits helped him or his teammates gain an advantage on the football field, that 2004 USC team was completely dominant. It's not the end of the world and everyone will still consider USC the champs that year but it does have an unfair affect on the current players/coaches who had nothing to do with it.

Different sports, different punishments that usually involves somebody getting a hefty fine in the NFL and most other pro sports..

Matt Cassel may very well be staring a campaign right now to award the 2004 BCS title to the USC second-stringers, saying a case could be made they were the second-best team in the nation that season.

To think that USC team lost their entire defense the next season and half of their offense, and still took Texas down to the wire in the 2005 title game. That 2004 team was the best college team that I've seen in the last 20 years. OU was pretty darn good that year, and they got skulldragged by USC. I still feel that OU was the second best team that season. But nobody was going to beat USC that after they got left out of the BCS title game in 2003. Basically USC was either the best or second best team for 3 years in a row. That's pretty hard to do in modern day football.
