Difficult rating of 8.9 (without cheating).

Where was the first professional night baseball game played under permanant lights and who were the teams involved?

I believe it involved the Houston Colt 45's. I will say the Astrodome, just because I am pretty sure they were one of the teams.

BTW, the first night WS game was Game 3 1971 World Series at Three Rivers Stadium.

Did not know that.......or did and forgot.

The Colt 45's and Astrodome are not the correct answer.

I think it was long before the .45s, and the Reds were involved.

Not the REDS, but it was before the .45s came on the scene.

DING-DING-DING

WINNER-WINNER!

1930--The first night baseball game under permanent lights was played on May 2, a Western League game in Des Moines, IA, against Wichita. It attracted 12,000 fans for a team averaging 600. The idea spread quickly through the Minors and saved them during the depth of the Great Depression. Night games eventually spread to Major League baseball and revolutionized the industry.

12,000 fans???

I guess "Field of Dreams" was alive and well

That was one hell of a turnout for 1930 in Des Moines wasnt it?

Keep in mind however, riverboat and Indian Reservation gambling had not hit Iowa yet, thus not much exciting was happening in the Corn State.

Even though the question has been answered the game Jimmy Hoffa is thinking about happened in Cincinnati's old Palace of The Fans in 1909 involving two amateur teams. Lights were temporary. I have a book called 'Diamonds' which is about baseball stadiums thru the years good stuff. Boston's stadium before Fenway was over 600 feet to center, lol.
