Am I crazy here or is Atlanta 28-1 at Pinny ridiculous value. There are only a few if any teams better than them in the NL. Then you can hedge in the WS or even the NLCS. Help me here? Places in Vegas have them under 10-1.

Sorry, I misunderstood the thread.

I actually think baseball will continue its decline. The abscence of steroids will reduce HR totals, and the casula fan likes HR. But the larger impact will be the increased lenght of injuries and increased frequency of injuries due to these "aging" players not recouperating as quickly without the miracles of medicine.

assassin, very interesting. That will definitely be something to watch for. Not that ever guys who gets injured was a roider, there will always be injuries, but if the overall number and breadth of injuries is unsually high then there may very well be a correlation. Sammy already pulled a hammy. Sammy may have a good year, but he will surely be better in his head than in reality.

Vaulted Treehouse, do not compare futures to Las Vegas. Vegas is Sucker Town USA. The Cubs were 2-1 to win it all last year in Vegas. The ticket writers even ask the customers, "are you sure you want this"?, when they bet these futures here. Its always the same answer, "yes, thats what he wants".

Could not disagree more. Injuries will not go up. Steroids only increase the risk of injury. Look at Canseco, Mcguire, Brady Anderson, Caminiti, etc... The only case you make are that steroids speed up the healing process, but as far as steriods making you injury free, the reverse is true. I also dont think baseball will lose popularity if people arent hitting 60 homers a year, and even if thats not true im not sold on the fact that less homers will be hit in the next few years. Did you know there were more homers last year, in the first year of testing then in 2003 when no testing was done.

Chuck I am well aware of that and would never bet there. When the 28-1 was out there(which it is not anymore) Oly was holding around the 10 to 12-1 area, which fair odds might be 14 or 15-1. 28-1 is tremendous value in my estimation even on a bet you have to sit on. I put 500 on it at the time.

Pinny has +1105 to win NL pennant, that sounds just as good as original bet, esp. if NYY are opponent.

Pinnacle likes to take a stand on some futures. They must think the Braves are going to struggle this year. It will be interesting to see how the Braves do without Smoltz closing games out this year.

Kolb will be fine. Replacing Drew's bat in the middle of the order might be the bigger question.

It sounds suspicious to me ! Pinny offers a well above average +1105 for braves pennant , but only +1694 for WS against the presumed Al NYY. Reading between the lines... Braves won't win NL pennant, but if they do , they are a big fav to beat AL ( Presumably NYY). ??? That sounds Fishheady to me !

Maybe I lay off of tieing money in up futures before season starts !

A wise man once told me, there will be another game, maybe more than one the next day.

Is Pinny dumb, I think not ?

Why are braves medium longshot for pennant, but effectively favored for WS victory if they get there ?

I don't like this ! I have the option to pass, I will invoke that option. I bet my futures during the season !

Presumably the AL would send a worthy foe ( even if not NYY, or Boston) to face the NL champ.
