While I can appreciate your sentiments, I think you're being a bit shortsighted. If the Federal Government failed to step in to secure these investments, a complete economic collapse and worldwide economic catastrophe would undoubtedly have resulted. And it wouldn't just be the Wall Street types who would be suffering.

All of this may happen anyway, but at least now there's a chance that the housing markets can stabilize and we can somehow get out of this mess. Unless something is done to stifle the ballooning deficit, though, we can pretty much eventually kiss our asses goodbye anyway. Of course, neither Obama or McCain are willing to put forward any serious plan to address that.

Isn't McCain the guy that said the fundamental of our economy are strong? The fundamental of our economy are crap. The bailout i like putting a bandaid on a gunshot wound.

So please, don't try and make it seem as if Obama is the one that i clueless about the economy. And McCain finished 894th out of 899 people in his class. We should be impressed when he is capable of spelling the word economy.

obama is not for this yet...(until there is more money added into it).....

Neither presidential candidate took a position on the proposal. GOP nominee John McCain said he was awaiting specifics and any changes by Congress.

Democratic rival Barack Obama used the party's weekly radio address to call for help for Main Street as well as Wall Street.

"We need to help people cope with rising gas and food prices, spark job creation by repairing our schools and our roads, help states avoid painful budget cuts and tax increases, and help homeowners stay in their homes," Obama said. "And we must also ensure that the solution we design doesn't reward particular companies, or irresponsible borrowers or lenders, or CEOs, some of whom helped cause this mess."

I think people should educate themselves on the issues before voting. As Obama supporter, I'll be honest and say that he voted present purely for political theatre. He probably didnt' want it haunt him while running for higher office. However it doesn't mean he didn't commit to one side, because basically a present vote is a NO vote.

How about your candidate Mccain? He has missed 20% more votes in the current senate then Obama.

Barack "present" missed 294 votes missed (45.8%), 348 votes cast.

While Mccain has 411 votes missed (64.0%), 231 votes cast.

Secondly as for Mccain commiting to issues. The guy is the biggest flip-flopper. First he rejects the evangicals, then when he loses he crawls up their ass. He was against bush, and then voted 95% of the time with him. He decided he was against the immigration bill he COWROTE after it was not popular with reps. He was for deregulations before he decided this week he aint for it. I can go on and on. This guy is a joke. He basically is doing anything to get elected.

SWEETLOU are you THAT THICK..or just IGNORANT????

I voted for who I stated...what is so difficult to process?? It really doesn't matter who I voted for, that is why I am NOT asking you who you voted for...IT matters who you want running this country??

And I will NOT vote for EITHER senator if they support this RIDICULOUS bailout....I really think all who are in favor...have NO IDEA what they are actually doing...The steps that the FED has taken this week were monumentous in a horrible way....No short selling?? This bailout will spell the "end of the USA being "A" superpower not THE superpower(we already lost that one)

I cannot strees enough how big this will backfire on our country.......

I am not going to tolserate posters calling each other idiots and queers because of their political views. I am imposing a zero tolerence on posts like these in the forum.

Uno you are on a 60 day vacation from the Politics and World Events Forum. wilheim

sweetlou is an idiot. it is really sad this is who represents obama on this board.

the question that needs to be asked is who fault is it that we are in a position to where we HAVE to bail them out. there is no getting around these bail outs and even if there was they are going to happen regardless.

so... how will obama make it worse? or will he make it better by increasing the size of government and regulations? how will mccain make it worse? will he truly be 4 more years of bush?

all of you queers just like bumping your uninformed gums with little to no substance to back any of it up. you think you are different than some rich guy who is voting for mccain or some poor guy voting for obama but you're not... you just as uninformed... problem is they know they are.
