Post offices and government closed tommorrow but haven't heard about banks. Did Louis XIV get this this much pageantry when he died?

Are you serious? This is ridiculous, if true. I need to get a job at a bank because you get off for every little holiday or death that comes along.

I was under the impression that only government jobs had the day off.

As if they don't have a cushy enough life or enough holidays

Bush is milking this for all its worth. I hope his Dad does'nt drop dead before Nov. or will have a month long mourning and Bush's body visiting each and every state.

I am ready to throw a brick through the TV screen. The networks should be embarrassed.

I thought that the death of Ray Charles was a bigger tragedy.

He filled the American hearts with joy, while Ray-gun emptied our pockets.

I think the mourning is traditional and a bit dated, but they don't want to disrespect the man by letting him be the first not to shut down markets etc. for his funeral.

For former Presidents this is unheard of. Lincoln, JFK, and FDR had a state funeral. The difference is those three were in office and two of them were assassinated. Are we going to have to go through this shit when Ford, Carter, and Bush go? Harry "the buck stops here" Truman said he did not want to impose on anyone when he died and in his will said, "no eulogies".

Another thing, why are these mourners acting like he died unexpectedly? Reagan has been a mindless vegetable for several years now. This is a sham funeral.

Appropriate unintentionally. Might as well stage his funeral for political effect that's what he did all his life. Bushes just aren't as good at it but they try even harder.
When you spend your life making the rich and powerful richer and more powerful at the expense of the working and middle class they sure throw out the red carpet when you finally kick.

I just saw the highlights of Nancy throwing herself on the casket and then the children coming over to comfort her. An Academy Award performance for sure. I want to know who changed Reagan's diaper and bathe him these last few years. It sure was'nt Nancy or she would be rejoicing right now.

Chuck Sims,

Your last post was about as tasteless and disrespectful as it gets...
