Signing day is upon us (Feb 4) and Alabama has established itself with a solid number 1 recruiting ranking again. Matter of fact, this is probably Saban's best class since he came to Tuscaloosa...at least on paper. Fourteen of Bama's commitments are ranked in the top ten at their respective positions.

The following list is the top 10 recruiting schools according to Rivals, Scout and 247Sports.

Rivals...............Scout................247Sts
1. Alabama........1. Alabama..........1. Alabama
2. Florida St.......2. Georgia...........2. Florida St.
3. Clemson.........3. Florida St........3. Tennessee
4. USC...............4. Tennessee.......4. Ohio St.
5. Tennessee......5. Notre Dame.....5. USC
6. Georgia..........6. Ohio St...........6. Clemson
7. Ohio St...........7. Texas AM........7. Georgia
8. Notre Dame.....8. USC...............8. Notre Dame
9. Texas AM........9. Auburn...........9. Penn St.
10.Texas...........10.Penn St..........10. Texas AM

As you can see, there is a difference of opinion among these services other than Alabama. To each their own but I have always favored Rivals for their service rank and data.

This is NOTHING new -- they need Lane Kiffin to stay, but you already know that from another forum / thread. Best of luck to your Tide.

Maybe "nothing new" but pretty damn strong.

Each of the powerhouse schools have the same opportunity recruiting....some are just better than others.

If Kiffen leaves and I don't believe he will...it would put Saban in a tight spot for a new OC. Other than his
first pick when he came to Tuscaloosa...track record pretty good with coordinators.

River, Alabama high school football dominates the state but being a small state does not produce a large number of high prospects. At least what Alabama and Auburn go after. This year Bama has 7 from the state and Auburn has 4. Mississippi State usually take some that the Tide and Tigers pass on.

Recruits for Alabama: In state 7, Florida 3, Georgia 4, Texas 2, California 1, Washington 1, New Jersey 1, Maryland 1, Missouri 1, Mississippi 1, Tennessee 2

Saban is the best Snake Oil salesman in the country! (Meyer is pretty good too).

Jones at UT has proven his worth and the size of the classes are amazing. I imagine next year the class won't have more than 20-22.

How UGA hasn't won anything in the last 5+ years is amazing. Richt just got an extension. It's time for him to shit or get off the pot! If they don't win the SEC and make the playoffs in the next 3 years it could be time for him to sail off into the sunset.

I'm surprised w/ Notre Dame. Kelly might put it all together one of these days.

Tosh Lupoi Hire Is Huge for Alabama Football Recruiting

By Sanjay Kirpalani , Featured Columnist Jan 24, 2015

In addition to trying to close out the 2015 recruiting cycle, Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban is also active in trying to fill a pair of vacancies on his coaching staff.

According to Thayer Evans of Sports Illustrated, Saban has taken quick action in filling one of those roles, appointing former Washington assistant Tosh Lupoi as the Tide's new outside linebackers coach.

Lupoi replaces Lance Thompson, who left the Tide for a similar post at Auburn.

While the Tide already have the nation's No. 1 class, the hire of Lupoi may represent Saban's biggest win in this recruiting cycle.

This hire is big for a few reasons.

For starters, Lupoi is already familiar with the terrain in Tuscaloosa, and he is familiar with what Saban is looking for in a coach and in a recruiter.

He arrived at Alabama last February and was given a role described by Saban as an intern in the recruiting department, per Andrew Gribble of AL.com.

"He's going to be an intern, and he's got a lot of good experience both coaching and recruiting," Saban told Gribble. "He didn't get a job this year, didn't have any issues relative to the way we checked him out with the NCAA, which we do with everybody that we hire."

While he was out of coaching last year, he spent the previous six seasons as a defensive assistant in the Pac-12.

He was the defensive line coach at California-where he played in the early 2000s as a standout defensive lineman-from 2008 to 2011.

His tenure on the sidelines in Berkeley was highlighted by the Bears' top-25 national ranking in total defense in 2010 and 2011. He also tutored the likes of first-round draft choices such as Tyson Alualu and Cameron Jordan.

He moved on to Washington in 2012 and spent two seasons with the Huskies before agreeing to a mutual separation in the
wake of allegations of improper recruiting tactics, per Adam Jude of The Seattle Times.

Despite that incident, in which the NCAA closed the case without penalizing him or the university, Lupoi's tenure as a Pac-12 assistant earned him a reputation as one of the nation's top recruiters.

Lupoi was named Recruiter of the Year by Rivals in 2010, per Adam Gorney of Rivals. Included in his haul that year was athlete Keenan Allen, who chose the Bears over Alabama.

As Evans notes, Lupoi has extensive connections with players and coaches on the West Coast-a place where the Tide have increased their activity and presence in recent years.

His presence was felt immediately in Tuscaloosa, as one SEC staffer remarked to Evans that Lupoi has already "been a big asset for [them]."

At only 33 years old, he will add more youth and energy to Saban's staff.

Given his history of recruiting at a high level and developing talent on the field, Lupoi represents another quality hire for
Saban and another big win for the Tide's recruiting efforts.

nice hire today with Mel Tucker. was GA under Saban at MSU, secondary coach with him at LSU, secondary coach under Tressel, and a few DC stops in the pros. probably just a short stint, 1-2 years, then will be on his way to a college DC gig but nice some more young blood on the staff

more gullible folks to sell that miraculous saban snake oil, i guess

Mel tucker is a great hire, i dont know why anyone would be surprised that Bama is #1 in recruiting again. I think the surprise would be if they were not #1. It is what Saban does best, recruit. He is the best in the books imo.. I am of the belief he is not the best X's and O's guy out there but he is with out a doubt the best recruiter..I think as long as he is at Bama, they will have a seat at the table of the last 4...if they beat osu this year they are national champs again. To much was made out of the loss to osu.. regardless of the outcome that game could have went either way, I am just glad we held them off, no easy feat.. With that punter he has flipping the field on people, look out.. There was nothing wrong with that Bama team this year, a few plays from being national champions. The great thing about bama football, they are not measured on wins or conference championships... its a national championship or its a bad year.. not a bad measuring stick.
