this is a nova daily free pick at sports2debate.com. i bet his pick yesterday and it was a winner. cards over giants.
Today - Baltimore Orioles at Los Angeles Angels (7/2/09)
Well we started July off with a nice two unit winner last night on a walk off homer by the Cardinals. Just as I thought, we got a stellar performance out of Wainwright who went 9 innings but failed to get a decision because he got just one run of support.
Tonight we are back at it. Tonight's play takes us to the American League where we have the O's facing the Halos. The Orioles come into this series after a wild series with the Red Sox. They first came back on the Red Sox one day for the biggest comeback in team history, only to blow yesterday's game.
The Angels come into this game after a big time loss last night rallying from 6 runs down only to then give up a walk off homer to the Texas Rangers.
John Lackey (2-3, 5.06 ERA) will take the mound for Los Angeles. The right-hander, who missed the first six weeks of the season with elbow inflammation, is 0-2 with a 5.28 ERA in two starts at Angel Stadium.
Lackey struck out nine and gave up one unearned run in seven innings on Saturday, but didn't get a decision in a 2-1 win over Arizona. All five hits Lackey allowed were singles. He looked very dominant in the start.
The Angels are the play here for me tonight and here is why....The Orioles have to be feeling down about blowing yesterday's game, and then traveling across country to take on a solid home team. Meanwhile the O's have lost 3 straight road games, and this should be number four.
Tonight I am on the home favorite.
