NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com's Marc Stein that the guard reached a verbal agreement with the Clippers on Tuesday night and will sign a new multiyear contract with Los Angeles after the leaguewide moratorium on signings and trades is lifted July 9.
Davis was in line to make $17.8 million in the last year of his deal with the Warriors, but after telling the team that he wanted to stay, opted out at the last minute.
Sources told ESPN.com that Davis, 29, will receive a five-year deal worth an estimated $65 million.
Forward Elton Brand also opted out of his contract with the Clippers on Monday, and speculation quickly began that the team would try to keep Brand and sign Davis. This scenario is only possible if the Clippers renounce the rights of Corey Maggette and Brand takes a slight pay cut.
Sources say the Clippers are expected to do just that and quickly reach a verbal agreement to bring back Brand.
Maggette opted out of his deal on Monday as well.

This could turn the Clippers into a very dangerous team if everyone stays healthy and Brand comes back. This might very well be the homer in me but Thornton is going to be a great pro in a one or two more seasons. He significantly improved every year at FSU and had a successful, albeit inconsistent, first year. Look at his scoring numbers, he averaged around 13 points a game but that's because one night he'd go for 5, the next 34, then 7, then 31, etc. I believe he scored 30 3 or so games in a row later in the year. He makes a ton of hustle plays as well. I really like their starting 5 now at least, even with the loss of Maggette.

The San Antonio Spurs have targeted Corey Maggette and are the front-runners to sign the Los Angeles Clippers’ free agent forward, multiple league sources said Tuesday night.
While no deal was imminent, Maggette would be expected to sign a multi-year deal for the mid-level exception, a move that would fulfill the Spurs’ desperate need for perimeter athleticism and scoring. Maggette would be leaving the Clippers, just as the team came to an agreement with Golden State free agent Baron Davis on a contract. With so much sudden salary cap space, the Warriors could be a threat to swoop in and take Maggette for themselves. The Boston Celtics have also shown serious interest in Maggette.
Another team with salary cap room, the Philadelphia 76ers, will present Atlanta Hawks restricted free agent Josh Smith an offer sheet on Wednesday when he visits with Sixers general manager Ed Stefanski in Philadelphia, two league sources said.
