What does everyone think about the Auburn Tigers this season? I for one think that they can compete to actually win the SEC- they have a great homefield advantage, they always have one of the best defenses, and for the first time in a little while their offense might get talked about more than their defense. With the new offensive system, they will be able to pile up the yardage- just look at their offense in the bowl game at the end of last season, and that was with just a small amount of time to install the offense.

In Week 1, the Tigers play more/less a cupcake in Louisiana-Monroe, and yes, they are laying a fairly large number at 26.5. While they might not be able to steamroll the other SEC teams, IMO they can easily beat this squad by 4 TDs. Opinions?

IMO, Auburn is going to be very good and will win the West. Their offense will be greatly improved. I agree they could win that game big. I don't know much about what La-Monroe returns, but they won't hang with Auburn. What is the line, 26.5? That's a lot of points. Auburn did lose their DC and they have some depth/injury issues in the secondary.....

I think AU will be very good as well. Very solid D - the O will depend on QB play, but should be better than last year.

They'll surprise a team they're not supposed to beat. And they'll lose to a team they're not supposed to lose to... 9-3 Tuberville football

yaaaaaaaaaaaawn

I am a bama fan, but have many auburn friends. They are saying that the new offense is stuttering a bit in the scrimages. They also think that 26.5 is too many as they look for a 28-10 type of game. I personally have no opinion, this is jut a quasi-consensus amongst auburn fans.

Auburn is not going to be very good this season. All the top ten predictions I've heard have me wondering what I'm missing. If AU doesn't start out 7-0 (seems unlikely), there's no way this team plays in January. Four of the last five games are very losable, and 1-4 is more likely than 3-2.

All that said, the West as a whole is going to be weak - Alabama is the only team that I give more than a snowball's chance of being a top ten team, but its schedule is brutal - so you never know.

Well if you're right shit is going to hit the fan. You could be right, but that would have to be a worst case scenario. at West Va, at Ole Miss, Tenn-Martin, Georgia, at Alabama. Given preseason rankings and recent history this would definitely put you in the minority. Although i am a homer, I think AU has an excellent chance to beat West Va. Rhoads is there defense coordinator this year, at pitt last year, the team that shut West Va down. For comparison, West Va is going from a Gene Stallings to a Mike Dubose in coaches, Auburn has an extremely fast defense and is much better than the garbage the Big East throws out there, and AU runs the same offense in practice. Many reasons Auburn could win that game. Mississippi, they could be much better, and you never know on the road. Georgia, ok they have had our number and they are better this year, but AU is at home this year. Bama, we'll just have to wait and see how it all pans out.

9-3 yaaaawn? Yea, I'd love to win the SEC or a national title, but only one team wins each year. I am happy with 9-3 and a new years bowl with a chance at both every year. I'll put it this way I'd rather be 9-3 and win a new years day bowl than go 11-1 and get prison raped in the biggest game of the year 2 years in a row.

I like Auburn to win the west this year with a 9-3 record. It would be an interesting game if they met Florida in the SEC Championship, they've played well against them the last few years.

I think it is a wait and see approach with Auburn. With a new offense against a defense savvy league I think they will have some high scoring games but a 7 or 8 win season is more likely than 9 or 10.

That's pretty funny. The winner of Auburn vs. LSU will win the west. Ole Miss will be greatly improved, and Alabama will be good. However, Alabama will never ever be a top ten team this year. John Parker Wilson is their quarterback. Alabama will lose to AT LEAST 3 of the following teams: Clemson, Tennessee, Georgia, LSU, and Auburn. My guess is they will beat Auburn this year and lose the other 4 big games.

Also, I hate Auburn, but I think they are going to be very good. They had a very young O-Line last year, and their defense is always stout. Tuberville is one of the best gameday coaches in college football (see Florida and LSU games last year). They won in the swamp as 18 pt. dogs, and they lost to LSU on a touchdown pass at the end of the game in death valley as double digit dogs.

Alabama is still a year or 2 away from being a national threat.

I especially like Auburn when they are underdogs or when spread is tight.
I don't trust them as heavy favorites.

Im a huge Auburn fan and go to a couple games every season even though I live all the way out here in Arizona. I would worry about the Auburn secondary if I was going to bet them. They have already lost Savage for the season and it looks like they will have to start a couple freshman back there.

Thanks for the input guys I am not betting them week 1, we will see how their offense is looking first.. sounds like it has been a bit inconsistent during camp, so I am holding off. I still believe they are going to have a solid shot at playing in the SEC championship game, these teams beat each other up
