I'm going to be going there w/ my wife for the first time later this month. Any recommendations on what casino to stay at, what to see, etc? Thanks

The Borgata is the nicest casino in town. "The place to be seen" Young crowd on the weekend. Some decent dollar video poker. Table games always seem pack jammed. Went to Suzanna Foo's Sulian and it was one of the most over priced tasteless places I have ever been. $17 for a bowl of wonton soup and $42 for general chicken. The buffet is very good and is also $25 for dinner. If you have a premium card from any other casino they will give you what is known as a black rewards card which entitles you to a free room,$50 in slot play, and front of the line service in the restaurant and bars.

The best thing to do is go and pay for everything and play at your leisure at a level that won't hurt you. From what I read earlier I am sure you know this already.

Things to do? Well, this isn't Vegas but you can take a nice stroll on the famous boardwalk. Tropicana has just put 200 mil in there place and it is looking good. Caesars has the nicest hotel lobby in town that features some scenes reminiscent of Vegas. Taj Mahal had 20 million in chandeliers. Do go down by showboat and you will be safe. In the daytime there is a lot of bus trippers and in the nights there is a very serious crowd. Ac Table players are more of a grind it out there to win type compared to the Vegas tourist crowd.

With that said tomorrow I leave for Vegas for ten nights. He HE

Do not drift more than 300 yards from any casino or odds of mugging are very high. AC is really the ghetto or at least the ghetto surrounded them and I am talking real ghetto(crack house, street hookers and homeless people.

jj is 100% right about that. The place is absolute mess once you get 2 blocks from the casinos, although may be better at Borgata since it is off the "strip"

That was the way it was a few years back and the stereotype has followed it.

They tore down 75% of the projects and the city is safer now then it has been the last 40 years.

They have just built a $100 milion outlet shopping mall 3 blocks up from Caesars/Ballys. I admit I have forbid my wife to go there(for now)

Not to rain on your parade but generally AC in a dump.

Not much to do except walk the boardwalk/beach along the Atlantic Ocean and gamble at the casinos.

Regarding Casinos, go to Borgata (theborgata.com) it is the newest casino in town but it is off the strip. The blackjack/craps minimums are fairly high on the weekends and it has the nicest poker room in AC. I know they spread 6/12 10/20 and 20/40 limit hold'em, any other games/limits you'll have to ask someone else. However, last time I was there it seemed that they spread it all including a rarely seen pot limit game.

I plan to be there next Friday/Saturday and will be playing poker and blackjack. FYI, the poker room is hosting the Borgata Open (WPT event) or something like that so I may have to get my poker thrill at the Taj if Borgata is not spreading cash games.

On my rare visits I like to stay at the Tropicana. I use their poker room and they have always been friendly and considerate. I also play at the Taj Mahal and enjoy the walk along the Boardwalk between the two. I have never felt unsafe on the Boardwalk at any time of night (or day).

It isn't Vegas though, where I'm also leaving for a week this weekend.

AC is a major $hithole! If you like bj players that don't know how to play at 90% of the tables, people smoking in your face everywhere, crappy food, a depressing atmosphere (the projects and the bad smells), and no one that really gives a rat's ass about sportsbetting than AC is the place for you. I just can't go there anymore because everytime i go there with a girlfriend or someone they always pester me to leave.

I haven't been to AC in many many years, but easily my favorite was Harrahs. It's kinda out of the way on the Bayside and not joined together with all the others on the boardwalk.

But that may gave changed .
Besides they were the only place that ever offered to comp me a room Easily no 1 to me.

Did some training with the local law there, never seen so many Mercedes' and Lexus' for the people who lived in the projects there, maybe they all got lucky and forgot to move out

Bomb squad said they get threats all the time from people who lose their $. Not meaning to sound harsh on the area but I wish they would clean it up. You will still have a great time, I like to jump from casino to casino though, and if you have time take the 45 minute ride to Philly and catch a ball game amd enjoy the sites.

Harrah's was by far the best to me! Yes out on the Marina but a classy hotel! By playing in Harrah's in A.C. They comped my air fare and 3 night stay in Vegas last year also! Never expected them to pick up the air fare too! Now that I moved further up north, don't get down to A.C. much anymore! But Harrah's is the best!

I would say instead of going to AC drive up the coast and visit us in Connecticut. Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods is much nicer with Mohegan Sun being my favorite.
