The 2nd Pick overall in 2009 Fantasy Football drafts could be the toughest decision in years.
Let's not forget leagues vary on rules & points, so a running back isn't always as important in some leagues compared to others.

Michael Turner - Could be even more dangerous for Atlanta this year with Tony Gonzalez added to the offense.

Matt Forte - Should improve on a great rookie season & now has Jay Cutler which teams should have to respect & could open the running game up even more.

Steven Jackson - Word is he is going to carry the load for St Louis' Offense this year, and the Rams drafted offensive tackle Jason Smith 2nd Overall in the NFL draft, but will that be enough?

Tom Brady - He went #1 overall in many drafts last season before the injury. Will he return to form & is it worth the risk? You will see some gamble & take him 2nd overall.

Drew Brees - Should continue to put up outstanding numbers, or even better.
You're almost guaranteed to not have QB worries for the complete season if you decide to take him.

Maurice Jones-Drew - Could have & is expected to have a huge year as he should finally carry the load without Fred Taylor in Jacksonville anymore.

Larry Fitzgerald - The best receiver in the game & if your league's points focuses on receiving, he could be your guy.

Tough decisions lie ahead .......:toast:

P.S. Don't forget about your chance to win 1 of 40 limited teams in Bet Jamacia/The RX's $5,000 2009 Fantasy Football League!

LT is supposed to be the featured back again. I'll take him or Brady.

How can you not take Westbrook 1st or 2nd. Now with Andrews and Peters added to the line, and with Westbrook's surgury = no more pain, along with rookie RB to help out, and Macklin at WR. I think that Westbrook is the pick.

1 - Peterson
2 - Westbrook
3 - Fitzgarald
4 - Turner
5 - Jackson

Those would be my top 5

Westbrook would be a great choice as well.

I still think LT is the choice though. Runs, catches, receives. Chargers had OL injuries last year too. He's the feature back and always produces. Either LT or Westbrook with Brady the 3rd choice now that I think about it.

I can't argue with Westbrook & didnt leave him out intentionally eaglezz, although his health issues in the past worry me somewhat.......

As far as the Vikings go, I'm so glad they have a real fantasy RB and not that RB by committee crap that they had not too long ago.

I remember getting the Vikes #1 and being happy about it only to see him subbed out half of every game.

If faced with the decision, at this time, I'll have to go with Turner.

As Mr_Mark said above though, I don't think you could go wrong with any of the guys he listed.....

I cannot take Westbrook with a top-5 pick. He has 1000 touches the last three years, and those are excellent fades. I'll take the upside with younger RB's anyday. BW is a top-10 player however.

WR's have now become the most important position in fantasy football. if you have a Fitz, Moss combo you can still get a 50/50 back in the mid rounds

Disagree. If the QB goes down, your stud WR is greatly affected. Easier to get the RB's then look for WR's later on.

The 2007 Champ in our league last year took Brady at 1.12 and Moss at 2.1. He won one game.

I agree I was preaching this two years ago. Get yourself two solid WR's and a top 7 QB and you can piece together RB's in rounds 3-8 and off waivers during the season. So many RB's split carries or get hurt you can't invest your whole season on the stud RB's anymore. I like to draft towards the end of the rounds and take advantage of other owners mistakes.

In regards to a QB getting hurt affecting your WR play. The same logic applies to RB's also. Without a proven QB defenses play 8 man fronts and bring up the safeties. Besides usually when a starting QB goes down the team winds up playing from behind all the time so they ae forced to throw more.

If the qb goes down, teams get more conservative, meaning more running. You are right about more teams sharing the RB carries. A RB will get 20+ carries whether there are 7 or 8 man fronts.

Been doing draft leagues for 6 years and now finally myself and the others in my league had an epiphany and we're gonna do an auction league next year so the question doesn't really apply to our league, however, I think Turner/Forte will have the 2nd most amount of $ spent on them, possibly Chris Johnson if Fisher says something in preseason like he will get more goal line/receiving opportunities....

Anyone do auction leagues? I haven't done one before but they seem WAYYYYY better than drafts which I am really bored with. Only problem with auction is you gotta have 10-12 good owners otherwise people will messup bad, whereas draft it is easier for a casual follower to do well....I think my league can handle it though and I like the idea of everyone starting out on equal footing rather than drafts where when its your pick you pretty much have a choice between 4-5 guys even if you like none of them that much...
