I hear that an aspirin a day is a real good way to prevent a heat attack...anyone doing this ?

It seems no matter what drug taken there are side effects or potential other problems.

Perhaps in very very small doses.

Aspiran will eat away at your stomach and will also cause unnormal bleeding if you should ever suffer a cut or more importantly, have to have emergency surgery.

Your concentration levels should be improved, as that is one thing I notice more than anything else.

I've been taking an aspirin a day, as suggested by my physician, for about 6 years with no problems. I'm 42 years old but I have a large family history of heart disease. I have heard that it can cause stomach problems such as ulcers and excessive bleeding but I have been fortunate so far. I'll keep it up until there is a problem. sucks growing old!

I have heard this also, but I was introduced to a great new product, that is a fruit juice (mangosteen), which is safe and is not a "drug". it is new to the market, check it out....covers many health issues, as it is a natural antioxidant...

I hear that pharma companies have come out with an aspirin tablet with a lower dose than usual. This helps lower the chance for bleeding or stomach irritation. However, even with low dosages it is still possible for internal bleeding to occur.

As always, consult a physician before going on a regular regimen of taking drugs.

I can't remember the exact figures, but I read somewhere that a high number of people have serious complications from aspririn every year.

If you're at high risk or had previous heart problems, then it makes sense.

I believe St. John's has a low dose tablet at 83mgs (I think), that's ideal for that situation.

Take two 80mg baby asprin a day or one 160mg baby asprin. One 160mg (children ages 6-11) is better for me because it is cheaper.

This is the number one thing you can do for your health.

It must be the coated baby asprin though.

One regular strength asprin is 320mg. This is too high a dose for average person on a daily basis.

Two 80mg or one 160mg coated baby asprin is best.

This aspirin a day thing seems like it could be a serious issue, and the way doctors differ on opinions just makes it that much more complicated...personally I wouldn't take one a day unless I was at serious heart risk.
