1/3 of the world tries to get by on less than $2 per day ... most of us in here will blow that on booze or cigarettes today ... the avg American thinks we are so damn special ... we arent .. we are a blessed country and the only difference between an Iranian and an American is one was lucky enough to be born in America ...

by the way last year the US gave 40% of ALL the worlds relief fund donations.

I can't speak for doc directly but I think he was talking more or less about the people on the planet as pretty much all alike, that everybody puts thier pants on one leg at a time......some places people can't afford pants....

Patriots comment, "we are better than third world people"....pretty much sums up the general attitude with countries that have success and offer opportunity for its citizens.......while we look down on third world people because they are born into poverty and have little chance to improve thier position in life....it's easy to drive around in the SUV and watch games and movies on the bigscreen tv in the comfort of air conditioning....and knock down a 5 or 6 figure salary while a great number of people on the planet don't even have pocket change and spend thier lives toiling in rice fields and hunting game to eat whereas we spend a lot of time hunting just for the thrill of the kill.....

It's easy to be a snob and look down on other people who have less, and take most of our luxuries in life for granted, and tougher to see that everyone is human overall.....

Sadly all too common Doc, our ethnocentricity even prevails in the public education system. How many kids know of William Walker, the war of 1812, that we helped keep pinochet in power, trained bin laden, what reagan did in Nicaragua, etc. Even Nam gets lightly brushed over. I saw a documentary once years ago that claimed that in many U.S. classrooms on world maps the U.S. is proportionately larger than in reality.
