Art Carney passed away over the weekend and was buried today on Veterans day. He was 85.
He was also a WWII veteran
As Norton on the Honeymooners he was the Original "Krammer"type character. That many others copied. This guy was a natural. And never had an acting lesson or any lesson. Most of his comedy routines on the Honeymooner he made up himself.
My favorite Honeymooner show was when Ralph was boning-up to win a Name-That-Tune contest and had Norton help him by playing songs on the piano and then Ralph would guess them.
But of course Norton had to play the opening riff of " Way Down Upon the Swanee River" to get his fingers started before he could play the next tune that Ralph was going to guess the name.
He drove Ralph crazy while they were practicing.
And when Ralph got on the show he named every single tune and was doing fantasic and was about to win the BIG prize when he had to guess one more song......So they played it for him to name and it was ...of course Way Down Upon the Swanee River but Ralph couldn't name it and got stumped and LOST!
RIP Art and I'm sure you are cracking them up where ever you are.
