I don't think losing a glorified exhibition game will be the deciding factor lol

It shouldn't be, but this is Texas we're talking about. I guarantee they would be getting the most qualified person for that job if they hired him. He's got all of the tools that make him a perfect fit. Great Texas HS recruiter that would kill it down there because most of the big schools in Texas run the same type of system that briles uses. And he's great at what Texas misses the most, developing QB's.

We'll if Texas hires Briles, for OU sake I hope he keeps Bennett as DC as this is the worst looking defense you could possibly see for a BCS bowl team...

art briles needs to hire a defensive coach, seems like his offense can move the ball but his defenders just grab and commit penalties

Or he can forget about the Texass job...

Why? Because of one game in which Art himself wasn't even present for 50% of the practices due to him sniffing around Austin? Don't let Baylor fool anyone. Baylor is Baylor and will always be Baylor, even if they don't wear their predominant color (green) in the biggest game of their program's history. What jackasses.

That's a good point on these stupid uniforms, you don't see the longtime great schools changing colors. Maybe Bama will wear black tom. Night. Not.....

Welp, Texas does have a reputation of hiring mediocrity since the Darrell Royal (ex-Sooner) days, rest his soul. So we'll see if they can finally get their shiit together and hire the coach who has beaten them 3 out of the last 4 years with the green team. But given the way they've handled the LHN, the chances of Texas making an intelligent decision are about (+500)

You mean the yearly $30 million check we receive from TLN annually? Yeahhhhhhh, we screwed that up realllllllly bad. Oh, and how did y'all handle Baylor this year? And how did The Cotton Bowl treat y'all this year? Ooopsiedaisy!

And last I checked our "mediocre" coach known as Mack had as many national titles as your coach Stoops who must be somewhat overrated as well. After all, he had to use the mediocre coach known as John Blake's recruits to win his national title. Now John Blake THAT GUY was mediocre.

Carry on.

I think Charlie Strong or Franklin would be best for Texas. Would not hire Briles for anything other than a OC. He clearly doesn't understand anything about defense year after year.

I'm hearing the Charlie Strong interview went, "okay". While he's a sound defensive guy, he's not very polished and "does not" interview very well at all. Which could be a problem in Austin. Let's face it, whoever is hired for the UT job has to be savvy. Charlie Strong, while he might be a great coach, is not very articulate/polished. And I don't mean to be disparaging with that comment. On top of that, he's won at L'Ville where his only marquee win was over a very down Florida team in the Sugar Bowl. If you look at L'ville, who have they beaten while he's been there? They lost their one big game this year to UCF. Last year they lost to Cuse and UConn, Previous year they lost 6 games. Granted, I know he inherited a mess, but he's been playing in the old Big East which really had no marquee teams the last 4 years. 7-6, 7-6, 11-2, 12-1.

Thoughts?
