How can this guy be considered the front runner for the Nebraska job? Arkansas folks do you want him to stay or go? Why is Nebraska chasing a guy who has good teams, but not great teams. I think it defeats the purpose of why frankie was fired. If I am wrong please elaborate.

p.s. no referances to Walt Harris are allowed.

I am not a Arkansas fan but living in Memphis I hear enough about the program. I think he is a good guy but not for Nebraska. You are exactly right. He has a good program but not great. They got destroyed by LSU, and that may be partly because they don't have the athletes but I'm not sure about this candidate.

Well, I am from Fayetteville, AR and I am a huge Arkansas fan. Nebraska is making a big mistake if they think that Houston Nutt is the Savior. It would not phase me a bit if he was to leave. His players have little to no discipline off the field. He is a great motivator and a good recruiter, but he is a mediocre coach.

Originally from Arkansas and a huge Hog fan. I'm hoping that there will be a press conference today to declare Nutt as coach of Nebraska.

He's a great guy and a great motivator. He's also a good recruiter. He's basically a used car salesman dressed as a coach. He's so-so as an X and O's guy. He looks like he's in total panic sometimes on the sidelines. He's got a huge ego and will blame everyone else if he loses. He refusal to hire an OC at Arkansas has cost us the last few years. He's not the guy to take Nebraska back to the top.

If I'm Houston Nutt and I know I'm losing that much, you can bet your rear end I'm interested if a job like Nebraska comes along. An opportunity like this could save my coaching career.

My background on this situation is this: my dad went to Nebraska and raised me to live and die Husker football. Furthermore, I got my undergrad degree from Arkansas and have followed the Hogs very closely ever since. So, I have a little understanding of what the Husker nation wants/needs and Houston Nutt is NOT the answer. Make no mistake about it: Nutt has done a fine job restoring the program at Arkansas after the Hogs hit rock bottom with a home loss to the Citadel in the early 90's. But, he is not ready to step into the Nebraska job and all the expectations that come along with it. Nutt is fiery, likable and very emotional which leads to a roller coaster type of season. His teams can come out incredibly charged up and play very well (at Texas this past season) or come out flat and play awful (vs Minnesota in the Music City Bowl last year). Nutt does a very good job of recruiting since his personality comes across very well with players. However, this same personality can lead to trouble as numerous Arkansas players had run-ins with the law during the past few years due to Nutt not cracking down. As a Razorback fan, I think Nutt is a good fit in Fayetteville where the fans want to win and see a competitive team within the SEC. But, Lincoln is a few, if not a lot, of rungs up the ladder and Husker fans will not have the patience to deal with the erratic seasons that Nutt seems to produce.

One more point – I was happy when Solich was canned as I was hopeful that Pederson would bring in a coach who could lead NU back into the top tier of college FB programs. Unfortunately, if Houston Nutt is the best coach he could find to lead the Huskers, then Steve’s head needs to be on the chopping block if (and they will) the Huskers continue to be a middle of the pack Big 12 team!

The road goes on forever and the party never ends.

If we somehow get Butch Davis, everything will be great. If we get another Jack Crow....I will very upset. No matter what, the way Frank Broyles has acted he already has a plan.

I like Nutt, but it is time for a change, next year will be a rough one for us and it is easier to swallow if we have a new regime.
