I gave it up about 2 week ago and notice the difference after the withdrawal symtpons like small headaches stopped...I had no idea how BAD caffine is for you or how addicting until I went to a work health fair... I thought I was OK with 1 cup a day....Not the case.. It also could raise your bloodpressure to dangerous levels

Absolutely. I had to give up caffiene for a few months last year and noticed the same thing as you Dante.

Of course, like all weak-spirited addicts, I'm back to needed my Diet Coke with every lunch and dinner.

I am a caffeine addict. I have 2 cups of coffee every morning, and 2-6 diet cokes a day. If I have no caffeine, I'll have a mild headache by 2pm, and a crushing headache by 8pm. The headaches and nap attacks stop about 3 days later, and no more withdrawal symptoms.

Health wise... I actually spent some time researching this (as I do anything that I expose myself to). As long as you don't have high blood pressure, there's no reason not to indulge.

Positives...First, caffeine decreases the risk of dementia and Alzheimers. Second, coffee itself has some obscure health benefits that you don't get from decaf. I don't remember what these were, but it was in Science News.

I am badly addicted to caffeine. Did not drink it or use it until the Navy. With the long port and starboard watch schd, many 20 hour days, it was almost required. I drink a pot a day, sometimes followed by a Starbucks triple Venti White Mocha. Probably contributes to my bleeding ulcer. My registered nurse wife wants me to stop. Cold turkey. My stomach was so screwed up after the NCAA final I stopped for a record 10 days for me. No headaches, nothing like a withdrawal. Of all my "Good" vices, probably the next one to drop. If I did not sit in front of a screen for 16 hour days, I would not drink any. OF:drink:

I know what caffiene can do to some people, there are many benefits and many downsides. When I saw Sick Gambler posting all those pics of African men with their penis's hanging out last year about this time, I said to myself what is going on with this kid he has done it. Sick G has reached 3 pots of starbucks a day type tolerence. He has skewed his mind to the point he finds the genitals of foriegn country inhabitants who are doing their rituals, to be highly amusing. To be frank, I thought it was strange.

I drink about 3/4 of a pot through out a day with just 1% milk and no sugar. I go through cycles though, and the headache deal lasts about 2 maybe 3 days but it's really only bad the first day off.
