playing at the high bonus shops that are safe, such as blue grass, bhb, bcbets, gamblers ave, etc...

or should they stick to books like grande or pinnacle?

my opinion on this is that every little bit helps for people who are just playing for entertainment purposes, so why not jump on the bigger bonuses

For someone who consistently plays a nickel or less, I think that the big bonus\low limit shops can't be beat. Someone with a solid backing like Las Palmas(WIT) is tough to beat.

Maybe the good smaller shops up to 2 dimes are good for the rec players.

Bonus $, free payouts, reduced juice days, etc etc all add up for casual players.

As Rec players tend to play the favs a lot more than pros do, so getting scalped by a book by 1/2 point or an extra 5 to 10 cents on a game
(-120 vs -110 ) cuts way into any bonus, so even rec players should make sure the lines they play into are tight.

A small player is someone betting under $50 a game not $500. I bet there are not 5 posters here that bet $500 or more a game. Most posters bet way less than you think. The big players do not post. They are busy doing research and watching lines.

Here are some real solid shops for the smaller type player

bet365
wwts
Bcbets
bowmans
bluegrass
gamblersAve
intertops

just some mentioned here.

JJ:

Recreational players do bet bigger amounts.

Recreational players are NOT pros.

Some Rec players do have very big bankrolls and like to bet on sports.

The service is also better at square shops for the small player.

Ask the player who is trying to put in his first $50 5 team teaser by phone at both VIP or Olympic (just as an example). See which one takes better care of him.

Why does it matter? Seriously.

The way I see it the recreational player WILL LOSE, so if they play with big bonuses & reward points then all they're doing is delaying the inevitable. What they should do is play at a shop run by friendly guys - if you can't win you'd might as well be treated with class when you lose.

My suggestions for losers -
1. Rio
2. BlueGrass
3. BHB

They'll all treat you like a perfect gentlemen & will probably give you the benefit of the doubt ... no reason to play somewhere that will only add insult to injury.

55-50
107-100
220-100

jj,
Almost half your list deal lines to recreational players intended to rip them off or cheat them. Why should they play at shops that would stoop to that?

As Joey C properly mentioned they should make sure they DONT PLAY at such books.

Recommending Golf at Canbet, now this? not sure what u r up to with bassakwards advice!
