So far this season Texas Tech's offense has sputtered and their defense has been their strength. If they get to 100 it might have to be from one side.

I don't see any way Tech doesn't score 60+ here.

SMU gave up 37 points in bunches to Texas State, a FCS team. Tech has had a couple weeks now to get things rolling.

I don't know if they can make a total or a Tech line big enough for this game. June Jones may turn it around here eventually but they are so devoid of athletes, especially on the defensive side of the ball, I don't see how this doesn't get ugly fast.

I'm a decent totals guy and I have it 67.5... my average that i'm off is usually 3 points either way (i can't help it if the teams aren't clutch! haha) so if it's sitting at 70 I wouldn't play it unless you are gambling >:)

if it is 67 i will unload on it like no other. Texas Tech will be in the 60's alone, and see SMU reaching the 30s

Gentlemen

From the FWIW department comes this info.

Checked the dolphin ratings from the end of last year and the first two games this year.

Last years total rating 69.5
This years total rating 69

If this gives you anything to work with.

There is a good chance that the remnants of hurricane Ike will drench a good part of Texas this weekend with rain. Just a heads up for the games like Texas Tech-SMU and Texas-Arkansas.

It was 36, but SWTSU (my wife, an alumna, insists that I ignore the name change) missed two extra points as well, with SMU returning a blocked PAT for 2 points.

If this is below 70, I love this game. We all know the story about Tech "establishing" a D that can contend for a Big12 championship. However, I have yet to see it. While they are getting better we are far away from where many thought we would be especially the SECONDARY. Tech has given up over 300 yards in the air on average in the first two games. This does note bode well against a team that has averaged over 340 in the air in the first two games with JJ at the helm. That being said, I dont see SMU scoring more than 24-28 points, but that should be plenty. Look for Harrell to be back on his game after a disappointing game last week (I think he was at the tables all night on Fri). Tech should put up at least 56.

Forget the TOTAL and just lay the money on Texas Tech. This will be a massacre in Lubbock . . . .

Texas Tech will win this game 76-30...And I'm being generous with SMU's score.

It appears you're a TT fan, but how many times do we need to go over the fact that the TT defense isn't nearly half as bad as everyone makes it out to be? You do realize that they're on the field approximately 1.5 to 2 times longer each game than they should be, right? And with any kind of emphasis on a running game on the TT offensive side of the ball, that their defensive numbers would be completely different? This is the primary reason why AD's from big programs ultimately pass on Leach every offseason.

I think this game has only one way to play...and that's over the total. Both teams has suspect defense and both offenses are going to get the ball in the air.

I agree with the point that Graham Harrell is going to look to step up his game after a disappointing performance at Nevada last week. I believe he was 19-47 which is completely unexceptable for a Mike Leach offense. The reason that last weeks game was so low scoring was the fact that Nevada controlled the clock for over 36 minutes for something like 82 offensive plays.

SMU on the other hand allowed Texas St to amass 465 total yards going 20-32 passing and converting 12-15 on 3rd downs.....that's 80% on 3rd downs!!!!!!!! The only way that SMU won that game is the fact that Texas St turned the ball over 5 times and SMU didn't turn over any.

There were a total (not exactly I will say) of 146 plays in that Tex St/SMU game. If Tex Tech gets anything ov 75 snaps in that game they are going to score 56+. In the game against Eastern Washington there was a total of 195 offensive snaps in that game and I see SMU having the same type of success.

I think that the line comes out around 75 or so. I think the way to play would be the first half over which should be around 37 or so.

IMHO!
