I think this is a nice spot to grab Seattle. Atlanta comes off an emotional victory Monday nite, has a short preparation week, flies across the country to face an 0-1 Seahawks team that had 5 turnovers against Jacksonville. I like Seattle -1.

that flight will be killer for Atlanta.

Situations definitely favor SEA. Scary thing is that game late last year. Seattle needed the game to make the playoffs, ATL rested most their starters and kept it very interesting all the way through.

I think I read it on here over the total in that game as a good bet!

As a die hard seahawk fan let me give you some insights.

1. Our line is make shift for now. The lost of pork chop for a couple of weeks hurts.
2. For some odd reason, holgrem loves to abandon the run early, (last week 77 yds for SA) comeon!
3. If kerney, Coleman and the other line get pressure it could be bad for seattle
however seattle plays well at home and with a hopefully better D it should be interesting. The problem is I don't know if we (seattle) has the LB to spy on vick. Lufa the rookie from USC would prob get that honor. Defense is a bit shakey, I mean they gave you tons of yards to Jimmy smith (100+ 2 tds)

If the O line can give Hass time Seattle will be in it, they have the offensive power. Mark my words.. look for Jerramy Stevens to have a big game this sunday.

so the over does look good.

The Over In This Game Is The Play, It's A Toss Up In My Opinion On Who Wins The Game. Atlanta Is A Determined Bunch Who Has Bought In To Jim Mora And His System, They Are A Serious Contender In The Weak Nfc.....

Chanman,
Thanks for your view, as to the Seattle running game, Atlanta are pretty stout and the fact Reid declined to test it, speaks volumes.

Oh my, A win/lose bet sighting. Never know where he'll appear next...

Last game between these two was close with Vick being pulled early for the upcoming playoff run. Seattle eeked out a win against the Falcons and looked weak in doing it. Not buying into the short week/long flight mentality on this one. Playing the Falcons side.

Last year Seattle had trouble beating Atlanta the last game of the year. Even though Atlanta had already clinched. Atlanta played a lot of back-up players. Over 4 minutes to go and the defense couldn't stop Atlanta from marching down the field and scoring. That's why S.Alexander never got back on the field to get that extra yard or 2 to win the rushing title. Atlanta missed a 2 point conversion to allow Seattle to get in the playoffs.

Fast forward to 2005. Big house cleaning especially on the defensive side of the ball. Weakest link last year was the front 4 and middle linebacker. Injuries and lack of performance was the norm. It may be too early to say what they have on defense as of yet. One thing is obvious, the defense is a lot quicker. Winstrom (DE) is healthy this year. Darby (DT) small (285 lbs) for a defensive tackle but got his motor running non stop and quick. Get's good penetration and his speed will be an asset in chasing down Vick. Marcus Tubbs (DT) Last year injured most of the year and didn't play all that well when he was in. So far this year high praise for the 1st round pick. So they do have speed on the line and Marcus Tubbs gets good push up the middle. That's a positive playing against Vick. The Seahawks have better then average defensive backs. Problem in the past has been the pass rush. leaving the DB out on an island far too long. Honestly, it's too early to say how well the front 4 will perform. I would like to think they are better then last year. Maybe from a grade "C" to a "B". Of course this is where the game will be won or lost.

3 new linebackers starting. Sharper and Lewis on the outside. Sharper a free agent singing. Lewis showed a LOT of potential when he did play 2 years ago but was injured all last year. Middle linebacker is another key to this teams defense. L.Tatupu was drafted in the second round. Some say this was a reach. He played for USC and led the team in tackles. He's not very fast for a linebacker but said to make up for it in the "nose for the football". ????? He's about 6' and 235 lbs.

Offense should put some points on the board. Pork Chop Wolmack (RT) is out for a few weeks. I think Locklear can fill in just fine. Then you have 2 of the best offensive lineman on the left side. All pro Walter Jones (LT) and Steve Hutchison (LG). The biggest problem with the offense is PICKING UP A BLITZ. It's like a hot knife going through warm butter.

Since they let go of K.Robinson they don't have a speed threat to stretch the field. The Seahawks will "dink" and "dunk" all day. Sometimes D.Jackson will break one for a long TD. D.Jackson seems to be holding on to the ball better then in the past. I think the Seahawks led the team in dropped passes the last year if not the last 2 years. I must confess I didn't watch all of the game last week. More money on other games. I wasn't surprised by what happened. Only 6 points down late in the game and 2 quick turnovers. They seem to do that all too often in crunch time. At home they seem to not self destruct as easily. They try but sometimes they just come up short. Except when they play the Rams.

I won't bet this game on a straight bet. I may put in a small "emotional" teaser bet if it turns into a pick'm. Then I can get 7 points. I can't see them losing by more then 7. I wouldn't hestitate to bet against Seattle if I thought it was a good bet but I don't like Atlanta either. Too many other good bets around town. The over doesn't look like too bad of a bet, making sure to buy down to 41 or better yet 40'.

I hope this has been of some help. Good luck.

Watching the O line vs jacksonville Locklear was ok but still the Line just isn't there. I hope the D line can get some pressure. I'm still waiting for the Grant Winstrom show to begin. As many know seattle d is known for some years for lack of pressure on the QB. When you got a guy like Vick back there, that could cause trouble. Seattle DID REAL well stopping the run limiting Fred Taylor to only 80 yrds I think and thats pretty good. If they can contain Dunn for a bit and MAKE vick throw their chances are alot better. With the poster above, the LB core is still suspect. Sharper is old and the rookie.. he has time to show me some stuff. I hope vick doesn't lead lead any of his WRs there a guy name Ken "the hammer" hamlin who could clean our your clock.. as Jimmy Smith.

I'm playing 3 games where a team is playing its home opener after looking awful on the road. Jets, GB and Sea.

Tempted to add Chicago and Houston to this mix.

chanman.

I do believe the run defense is better then in past years. And how the D line performs will determine this game. I'm very interested to see how they do on Sunday. I don't really think Winstrom is a sack master but he should apply pressure and squeeze the pocket which is what you have to do against Vick. Hopefully, Tubbs does his job straight up the middle with a bull rush. Either stopping the running backs or limiting the running backs from long runs. Also, clogging up the middle so the linebackers can make the stop for short gains. Darby is quick enough to make Vick make an extra move or make Vick hesitate an extra second. Just either slow Vick down or ideally make him throw.

I think Seattle's offense will put up at least 20 points. And hasselbeck will also get hit in the face with Atlanta's blitzes. Seattle can not pick up a blitz. Maybe the safe way to go is take Seattle and the over as a hedge bet. If Seattle can somewhat contain Vick then the Seahawks win. If they can't then the game goes over.

I would love to see the Seahawks free agent pickup Leanard Weaver from Carson-Newman college in the game. He reminds me of John L. Williams of the Seahawk's past. He would be the equivalent of Ken Hamlin on the offensive side. Not afraid to put a hit on an oncoming blitzer and could catch the ball out of the backfield.

Einstein & Chanman, great stuff, this is what forums should be like only I'm too slow at typing to give a good reponse. The only reason I am interested in this game is if Rossum doesnt play, not only do they lose a good returner but the secondary is a mess. Regardless of problems picking up blitzes, Seattle will put Atlanta in nickel and dime sets and make them take the gamble.
