I just signed up for fiber optic for half the price I'm paying for cable, but I'm not familiar with fiber optic - does anyone have any experience using both fiber optic and cable - how do you compare the two?Is there anything I should know?

Yes, newer communities are coming with fiber to the house. We have a 10Mbps fiber connection. Very fast, very reliable.:103631605

If it's 10mpbs, it's got to be slower than cable at 100mpbs, I think.

Kinda sorta. You see 100Mbps cable modem connections are shared between every node on your block. In the case of fiber optic, I have a dedicated switchport at 10Mbps at the ISP office (usually a colocated teleco facility). So it all depends. But I would always choose fiber to the house than a faster cable modem connection.

Nothing, except for some reason you felt the need to tell me that "I never said what connection we had", which is clearly contradicted by your earlier reference to the wireless network that the "two" of you share.

Geez - I feel like I just walked into one of those cd record stores in the mall - it's like visiting a foreign country - what the hell language are you guys using??

I signed up for 5/2 fiber optic - I know that the 5 is MBPS, but I don't have a clue what the 2 is - I know I'm on cable - sometimes it's good and sometime it sucks.

What ever happened to the good ole days with a nice and slow 9600 baud modem!
