Rumers are flying right now about Wood becoming the Cubs new closer. The Cubs being my 2nd favorite team, I would love to see this. At least for this season. Cubs need a closer much more than a top starter. They can get by with Rusch in Woods place.

they might as well move Latroy Hawkins to center while they're at it.

there thinking the stress would be easier on his arm pitching 1 inning at a time.

Making Woods the closer is almost a must. I think Woods would be a great closer. I cant believe a large market team like the Cubs did not address this issue in the offseason. There is no excuse for that.

Cubs will not do that. Anyway, Borowski will be back soon.

it won't happen this season. It's a possibility in 2006, unless Borowski comes back strong.

Chop, this is just something one of the writers in our local paper started by asking Rothchild if the Cubs would consider this. He told them that they weren't sure that pitching an inning 4 times a week wouldn't be worse than pitching 6-9 innings once a week.

Hate to say I told you so...but

As a Cubs fan I hate to see Wood get hurt again, but with his poor pitching mechanics, what did everyone expect? I wish they would have traded him when his value was high instead of signing him to big $$$. Fair Warning can vouch for me that I was begging for them to do it a few years back! (but then I also thought Leaf was going to be a better QB then Manning! I was bound to be right sometime!) GO CUBS!!!
