A former girlfriend was a huge duke fan. She really enjoyed watching bball which was cool. However, even if I had 2 freaking dimes fading duke whe would root for duke. She almost got tossed out of this house more than once for that crapola.

Had another one that used to root for steelers regardless of what action I had on or against them. However, other perks made it tolerable.

the average non gambler cannot relate to a $500 bet.like we trip that a lattrell sprewell says he has a family to feed and cant live on 14 million bucks.if you say to the non gambler you bet $500 that never sits well with the person with just a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk in the fridge.in thier eyes you have a huge problem and rehab is a day away. you have to stick to one story. you bet on line but you only bet $5 a shot.im serious. if you dudes want to keep your chick NEVER admit you laid nor won a huge dollar bet.because then you ust opened the door to a whole different problem. like if you can afford a $500 bet you can afford to take her to a nice restaurant or go the mountains or do ANYTHING with that kind of money. a non gambler sees you as self centered and selfish.avoid all that by acting the part of a recreational bettor.god help you if you forget a bill and somethings shut off because then the dogs of hell attack and theres no denying you have a problem regardless if the bill was just misplaced.~RG

A $500 a game bettor, yes, my guess, is that he could afford it,
to take her out at least once a week for dinner & once in a
while on a nice trip.

it took my old lady a year or two to warm up to the idea of gambling. once i started taking her to the track and atlantic city, her whole perspective changed.

Strike a deal with her: she never says the above ever again, and you promise to never once ask, "Honey, are you on the rag or something?"

Compromise, my friend.

xpanda- what drew you to sportsbetting? I mean, it's cool as hell, but I wonder what would drive a girl to this? Have you just always loved sports, or just like casino gambling and it translated to this?

The only sport I like (love, actually) and watch is NFL football. (I currently bet sports I don't watch.) I've been known as "Sidebet Sally" for years due to some of the offbeat wagers I've had with people on football games and/or fantasy football performaces. It's the thrill of competition - casino gambling puts me to sleep, to be honest; more luck than competition. So sportsbetting for me started as a football-related thing ... ex-boyfriend years ago introduced me to ProLine (the Ontario provincial sports lottery thing.) Then a regular of mine at a bar I used to own showed me how much of a ripoff the odds were at ProLine and taught me a little about offshore betting. Then I found this place, and now I'm a full-blown degenerate like the rest of ya. :>Grin>

xpanda- I know the odds are a ripoff, but I still think it would be cool to say to the gas station attendant, "I had pump 4, and I need a 3-team parlay. And a glazed donut." Hopefully, someday we'll have sportsbetting all over the states, and not just in Vegas.

Payouts are crap. You can't play one game at a time. Etc.

I haven't played Proline now in two years. Doubt I will ever again.

Adding: it looks like they took the NBA off the card. Wimps.

I play cards on a regular basis and have as long as we have been married - 9yrs

Been gambling on football with a local since long before we were married.

I have 2 simple rules regarding football/cards

1. If I win - I won a little

2. If I lose - I broke even

She knows not to ask how much -

I bet small anyway

My wife doesn't care, she knows I don't play with "the rent money" and she always gets her "wifey cut" when I win.
