The teams with the better FG Kicker has either won or covered the spread in most of the Bowl games.

TCU- All-American
Houston
NW
California- 4 year Senior
Virginia - all conference
Iowa
Miami- better than FLSt's wide right gang
Miss- Lou G award winner , and All American
Georgia
Ohio St
Ga Tech

dont know about the rest, but I sure others can fill in the ones I missed. I just was thinking that these teams with the better FG kickers have shown us that they also have a better all around team then we may have noticed. I wonder if it is a telling sign that of a team whose coach has addressed the majority of his teams problems on Off and Def, which now allows him to address the kicking game as well. Compared to those teams with a poor to average kicking game , which could indicate a poor Off or Def which has not been fully developed into a efficient and effective working unit yet. Hmmm , just a thought. What do you others think.

Bra,
I knew you were on to something after the
Cal game. Also these coaches don't get caught
in situations where they go for it on 4th
and get no points repeatedly.

Well Ohio St has the advantage in the FG game. Lets just hope it follows suit like the other teams have.

LSU has VERY bad field goal kickers. Hell, they struggle to make extra points!

Now hows Oklahoma's FG kicker. Anyone know

Just alittle thing to see how it plays out, this is in no way how to select a play, but just interested in tracking this possible trend this year. So for all that follow me, I am not using this as a way to selecting my plays. Aloha

Nice eyes to see this, also mention UGA's Bennett.

Pete, hopefully LSU will pull a KSU and it will not matter.

Co, PK edge is definitely to OU Sunday night.

slightly in the wrong forum, but this thread reminded me of the pro game where the Saints returned the kickoff and pulled the old "lateral-until-someone-scores-play".....

Then Mr. John Carney aka "While-you-guys-are-elated-on-the-sidelines-after-scoring, let-me-shank-the-extra-point-straight-dead-on-wide-right-to-bring-you-back-down".....

Saints plus the points covers the spread.....

even bad kickers can cover the spread.....

The trend continues with GaTech today getting the win and the cover. They have the better FG kicker. See Brokens posts for the stats. In tomorrows game, Oklahoma has the better FG kicker. Does say something. If it follows the trend, it will.

Co-captain, I agree with you entirely regarding the importance of having a good FG kicker. It's been so obvious that even I (brain dead for football) noticed it.

Now if only I knew where to go to get the information ahead of time. There must be a site somewhere with stats for FG kickers.

Anyway I'm pleased to hear Oklahoma has the better kicker since I'm already down on them.

*The Bold-case numbers indicate the winners ATS. These are this weeks NFL Wildcard games. Just checking if this could be used as a tool going into next year, perhaps.
