you gotta be carefull. when I was about 22 an English guy I knew, who was not into anything shady by any means, told me he could get me 5 dimes if I agreed to marry an English girl to get her American citizenship. He was a good guy and trustworthy.

I would have to marry the girl and we would get divorced after a year or so. She would get American citizenship out of it and I would get 5 dimes. But he said the people involved in this deal would not be the kind of people I could cross.

I did not want to be a divorcee or have to explain this kind of thing to my parents. And dealings with the kind of people you don't cross I was smart enough to realize are not good ideas.

So I passed. Although 5 dimes then would have been a lot of money to me.

Last time I was in So. Cal. I was listening to Mark & Brian about a guy who married a Russian chick. They said that the woman has to wait either 5 years or 7 years (I forget which) for US citizenship after being married. They also mentioned that the woman can get a green card without citizenship and then she can get the divorce. Once she gets the green card she can still work.

Love is what you make of it. Come on guys like anything in life you get out what you put into it. Many of these guys just want arm candy to show off, there isn't much thought to the long-term job of building and maintaining a relationship.

And the stories do seem ridiculous. After you and your foreign spouse get married, she can't even leave the country for two years. She can probaly get a work permit and a green card, but that is all tied into her sponsor the spouse. If he wanted the woman's legal status to be ended he could file a few papers and it would be done. Five years after marriage is when the spouse is eligible for citizenship as mentioned. Before that the woman has incentive to be good. Take it from me, I am living through this right now with my Mexican wife. Doing things legally is expensive and troublesome, you better really love the person to do it.

After you get married I believe she can leave, I heard when after you get married you have to submit a form(I dont know what form) if you dont and she leaves she cannot comeback. After you get married if she files for domestic violenace then she doesnt have to wait for two years to get her green card. Actusally I heard if she does that she can get her green card faster.

Well,I can honestly say that I'm not looing for arm candy.Me and this girl just started talking(I wasn't really looking for anything) I enjoyed our talks and now look forward to them.However,make no mistake,I'm not desperate and just looking for some pretty decoration! I'm in great shape and trust me,I have no problems meeting ladies.I've always thought Russian women had this certain look about them that was hot as hell.Not saying that there's not hot women in US(or wherever) because of course they are everywhere.But what I'm trying to decide is,why shouldn't I try this as long as I'm careful(just like when you meet anyone).You know how life goes,20 yrs down the road alot of times you sit back and say,"I wished I would've tried that" I know that I'll always think Russian women are hot(especially the one I'm talking to now) thats why I'm leaning towards giving this a try!
