Anybody hear of compartment syndrome in the hands?

I humps swelling in both hands betweens thumb and pointer finger. MRI showed muscle. My doctor thinks it may be compartment syndrome. He wanted to try carpal tunnel surgery first to see if that eliminated the problem. That was back in January and I still have the pain and severe cramping after a minute of using my hands to grip things.

Anybody know anything about this?
