one team strong on the ground....the other stops the run

alabama way down the depth chart at running back and qb......minny`s qb cupito sucks on ice....

one solid defense....one poor defense.....one good offense(at least on the ground)...the other offense is putrid...

just curious if anybody has an angle or an opinion .....this looks like a pass....

thanks

I live in Minnesota and have had to live with this happening to the Gophers year in and year out with Mason around. They start out on fire(5-0) and then go on to lose 5 or their last 6. The defense cant stop anyone. I wouldnt lay any money on this team for the fact that when they need to make a stop they cant.Offensively, if they can sustain their ground attack they will be in the game, notice i said in the game. If they cant run it will be a long day for the Gophers. As much as i would like to believe that the Gophers will win beings that i live here, I just cant pull the trigger on them. Final answer says that Alabama will control the run and will make enough plays in the end to win a hard fought battle. Alabama 20 Minnesota 16.

I always like to take the better defensive team in the bowls and Bama is DEFINITELY the better defense. Now that its a pick 'em, I like Bama even more!

actually, I've got Minnesota +4...think that Minnesota's run D isn't that bad...and Alabama will have a tough time sustaining drives with the injury to Darby...like Maroney and Barber to carry them...also give the coaching edge to Mason here...GL

You're right. w/ darby hurting Alabama will have a really tough time keeping drives going. Unless they can throw the ball effectively, and I wouldn't bet on that.

Not buying Minny

The Crimson Tide will be playing in the Music City Bowl for the second time in the bowl's brief six-year history, and the first appearance in 1998 resulted in a lopsided 38-7 loss to Virginia Tech.

Alabama has made 49 bowl appearances in its history and won 29 of those contest, both of which are NCAA records. The Tide is 13-8 all-time against the current members of the Big Ten Conference, while Minnesota is 3-3 against the SEC.

Minny outside of Minny = 1-4

Moving the ball against the Tide has proven to be quite difficult (just ask Auburn), as the team is surrendering only 15.4 ppg and 235.9 total ypg, good for second place nationally in regard to total defense. Against the run, the defense is allowing 119.4 ypg on 3.2 ypg. The play against the pass has been even more impressive, as 'Bama has enabled opposing quarterbacks to complete only 100 of the 229 passes that they have attempted.

I like 'Bama outdoors today. If they played Auburn that close, I like 'em here because they're happy to be in a bowl. Minny doesn't do well away from home, and I've lost money all freakin' year on this supposed "great" Minny team that has done nothing if not under-achieved all year long against their divisional opponents with this running duo of Maroney and Barber. They're one-dimentional, a one-trick pony, if you will. 'Bama shuts 'em down, period.

GL everyone! :digit:

Bama

Minny seems to go into a shell and pout when they lose a lead or fall behind.
If they get a lead early and dont turn the ball over they'll win. That's alot to ask. As for BAMA, they have had multiple injuries at multiple positions and have showed heart in every big game they have played.
I see B10 games more than any other but I like what I see from this BAMA squad, if you have to play it might as well take the team that plays harder more often.
BAMA by 4.
