Line is St. John's - 1.5

Johnnies are up 3, 5 seconds left. Seton Hall ball at their end court.
During time out Coach Roberts orders defense to purposely foul dribbler before he can get a shot off.
Seton Hall gets the ball to the front court with 3 secs left on the clock.
Johnnies defender clearly grabs dribbler to send the Pirates to the line for 2 shots.
Blantant foul, but wait a minute, no call, to compund matters Seton Hall dribbler heaves a wild 3 point shot hoping to go to the line for 3 shots.
Still no call.
Seton Hall coach is livid, announcers are going out of their minds wondering "how is no foul called?"
Hmmmm
If the obvious call is made, Seton Hall goes to the line and more than likely covers the 1.5 spot.
Wild 3 point shot is ruled out of bounds to Johnnies, they get fouled and the NYC homeboys win by 5.

Oh, and for the record, I was on St. John's, so this is no way a "wah wah wah thread, I was screwed........."

i had seton hall +2 but i'm very objective when it comes to watching games and for all the people that wasn't watching the game, the st. johns player literally was like TRYING to intentionally foul him (he HUGGED the seton hall player) and it was a no call

that was so ridiculous the refs just stood there and did nothing

Did not see the play, would just say that they likely would have made the first and missed the 2nd on purpose to try to get a rebound and putback had the foul been called.

Officiating is horrible everywhere. How much, on average, do college refs make?

That was unbeilievable, I have been A coach,
in the business for 50+ years, and I have to say that was
one of the worst non calls I have ever seen

Good luck to you and all the cappers................

I doubt they "more than likely" cover. Didn't they shoot around 45-50 percnent from the line yesterday? Also even if they did shoot two and make both of them (unlikely since they probably intentionally miss the second if he makes the first) they would have fouled St. Johns after the made free throws.

What are you talking about they "more than likely cover". Even if he makes both they would foul st johns right away and st johns still covers.

I had SETON and the OVER, thanks for telling me this... what a crock of shit lol. *BUT* regardless... I had SHU scoring 15 points more than what they ended up with so I can only blame them for playing like shit the 2H

In my thread... I have the shooting percentages. SHU lead in every category but FT's.

I had StJohns so I was happy with that non-call but SH lost that game because they are horrible rebounding team statistically. StJohns dominated the boards which gave them extra shots.

SH will play Pitt at home this weekend. I think SH will be about 11.5 point dog in that game. Pitt will dominate them on the offensive boards. Pitt should covers this game easily.

Your point is valid, my point is valid.
If the proper call was made (and it blatantly was not) there was a chance he hit the two shots, making it a one point game, and with virtually no time left on the clock, there was a chance Johnnies could have gotten a clean inbound and before SHU could foul there would be 0:00 on the clock.
We'll never know.
One final point, and you can read into this which ever way you want, I used to work for a local in NYC, and let's just say they know sometimes they know exactly what they are doing when they hang a number on St. John's, especially when they play in Queens.

JP, what the local that I used to work for in the 80's knew about St. John's was scary.
He used to know exactly when to juice the line a point either way.
Scary.

the refs were full of shit yesterday in a bunch of games. what do you expect when you bet on basketball? If you watched the Michigan-Iowa finish you know what I'm talking about. Biggest bullshit foul call ever.
