I have yet to see him pitch a game .

His Hit/Walk ratio is down so far this season (0.73)
Strikeout ratio is the same as his entire career (about 6 per 9 innings)

Overall it looks like his control has been tremendous , just 5 walks!

With 322 wins, Maddux has an excellent show at 350+ wins for his career!

It was not that long ago people were saying no one would win 300 games again, 350 in the National Leaue is mind boggling in this era.

Maddux CAREER H/W ratio just 1.13.

Randy Johnson H/W ratio 1.17
Roger Clemens H/W ratio 1.17
Bob Gibson 1.19
Koufax 1.06 (* only pitched til age 30 though)

Lets keep in mind that Greg has faced many, many sub .220 average hitters(pitchers mainly) in his career being in the NL with no DH.

However, Greg remains one of the games most underrated superstars.

Maddox was never a pitcher who tried to over power hitters. Which i guess gives him more longevity to his career. If his control and location are on point...he can continue to be lights out. He was never a power pitcher...so even if his fastball is only hitting in the 80's he can still dominate.

dont really know the reason however, the one thing i noticed the last couple of years when he wasnt so good...he left the ball up quite a bit. because he doesnt throw hard, when the ball is up in the zone, it gets hammered. this year, everything is down.

Very true, but (here we go again) how many more wins would he have had he pitched in the American League?

How many wins has he lost out in being an NL pitcher? May be safe to say 20-25 easy.

Interesting enough, Maddux, Clemens and Johnson have all struggled in post season.

very true, velocity was never his game.

that backdoor pitch he throws is one of my favorites to watch, the last few years he didn't seem to have that pitch.

Maddux is one of the few guys who you could say is a crafty-righty! Usually the term 'crafty' is saved for lefties .

Not sure, ask the Cardinal organization.

Being the crybabies they are, they bitch and moan to the umps everytime they face Greg.

By the way this is one example of why the Cards will probably once again struggle to win it all.........as I question this teams character at times........especially come playoff time.

Maddux has pretty much dominated every single team he's faced, he's beaten several teams 23-24-25 -26 times, and has beaten the Mets 36 times!

One team however has owned him , he is 1-8 vs Arizona!

That is an amazing statistic.

Cant be a weather thing, as he lives in Vegas which has similar climate to Phoenix.

Amazing stat considering Gregs lifetime winning percentage overall.

Imagine where this team would be with Prior and Wood healthy? On top if that Carlos Zambrano has even won a game yet!

The NL Central is on fire.

Bingo. That and he's just spotting his pitches better for whatever reason. And he's getting more movement overall. I heard that he did work harder in the offseason because he was embarrassed by last season's performance. But he will give up his share of homeruns in the summer at Wrigley when he makes mistakes up. He's gotten away with some mistakes in a few games, though he hasn't made many of them. His downfall the last couple years has been the longball. Hard to beat him without the longball because he doesn't walk anybody and forces so many groundballs.

all good points---but as long as the umpires give him the low pitch he dosen't have to make mistakes up in the strike zone.
