Miss Botswana Channels Carrie Prejean

A Miss Botswana contestant got the same question as Carrie Prejean and took her answer one step further, winning her the crown.
In a scenario that mirrors the recent controversy at the Miss USA competition, Sumaiyah Marope was asked by judge DJ Fresh if she would advocate gay marriage. “It is unnatural act,” Marope proclaimed. “God made us men and women [... ] It is only proper for men to have relationships with women as God created us.” The crowd erupted in a loud roar of approval of her comments. Unlike Miss California, Marope went on to win the competition, and was awarded a US $700 bracelet from rapper Russell Simmons, a brand new Mercedes Benz, and an academic scholarship. Miss Botswana’s comments come at an unusual time in Botswana, as several gay rights groups are pushing for the removal of legislation that does not recognize same-sex relationships.

"Anti-Gay Rights Carrie P"... way to misinform barman

all she has said is that she is against gay marriage due to her religious beliefs, i dont see how that constitutes a claim that she is "anti-gay rights"

It's not intended as a slur. It's simply a fact that anyone who opposes gay Americans having equal rights for marriage is anti gay-rights.

If you're one of those, there's no need to apologize. Stand up proudly for your belief that only some Americans are worthy of certain legal rights.

Your attitude - if passed on to your daughters or other female family members - could help earn you a top ranking in an upcoming African beauty pageant!

I hope some day you are at a restaurant at a table with two pepper shakers and when you complain the waiter looks you straight in the eye and says, what, are you anti-pepper?
You can be anti-gay marriage, and not be anti-gay rights. It's just a question of understanding, a unit -- the family or otherwise, is a positive and a negative . Not 2 positives or two negatives.

TR, that's a fantastic analogy which I'll be able to use the day that I begin to publicly advocate equal rights for pepper shakers.

For now, I'm only working with equal civil rights for American human beings.

It's clear at the moment that both President Obama and VP Biden are - to at least one extent - contributing to the imbalance in civil rights between gay Americans and the rest of the adult population, yes.
