Fucking global warming and climate change. Just got 16 inches of fresh new snow thanks to all the carbon we keep emitting. I think it's time President O tries to pass a ban on all V - 8 engines and above. Nobody should be allowed to drive anything over a S -10 or little Mazda. Time to get all the SUV's, 150's, 250', 350's etc etc. off the fucking road so we don't get this climate change or polar vortex that's crippling the Midwest. Don't you guys get it?

UN chief counting on Bloomberg's help on climate

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said Friday that former mayor Michael Bloomberg helped reduce carbon emissions in New York and he is now counting on the billionaire philanthropist "to work for humanity" in his new job as United Nations Special Envoy for Cities and Climate Change.

Ban made the comments as he welcomed Bloomberg to U.N. headquarters for the first time since his appointment on Jan. 31.

The secretary-general said Bloomberg has been a strong supporter of many U.N. goals and ideals, including saving the lives of women and children, helping HIV/AIDS patients, and fighting non-communicable diseases but is best known "for his strong stewardship on environment and climate change."

Last year, Bloomberg boasted that New York city's air quality hit its highest levels in 50 years and now has the cleanest air of any major American city.

He said the level of sulfur dioxide in the air has gone down by 69 percent since 2008 and the level of soot pollution by 23 percent since 2007 — achievements officials attributed to a combination of factors, including buildings burning lower-pollution heating oils or switching over to cleaner burning natural gas.

The U.N. chief said he was counting on Bloomberg's "dedicated and visionary leadership" to help countries around the world address the climate change phenomenon.

As a first priority, Ban said he wants the former mayor to help make the U.N. climate change summit he has called in September "a great success."

"Most importantly," Ban said, "we need to have a global, legal climate change agreement by 2015 next year."

Kofi Annan was unavailable for comment as he was vacationing in the Swiss Alps with his new beau Dominique Strauss-Kahn.

everybody knows the earth's temperatures have been increasing, they have been since the end of the last ice age for heaven's sake. About 17,000 years and counting

and we all know the climate has been changing too, that's been happening for billions of years

the debate is about man made global warming, but that argument is much to difficult to win with a 10 second sound bite

it's funny to watch the circle jerks that ensue after libtard nation beats down a straw man, the poor dude couldn't fight back, but he still almost wins by default

I hope everyone who read the thread knew I was trying to be a bit funny. We couldn't survive here without a pick up truck and those who dont have one survive cause they know somebody who has one or an ALD. As I read threads across the forums, well actually this one and madjacks. I am a regular poster over there, not too much politics as it is dead, but I will say one poster there is as hard right as any but we correspond outside of that, hes in my 33 pools and fantasy baseball and as much as we disagree politically I would definitely pull him out of the snow and I think he would give me a canteen in the the Texas heat, (from Bueamond) or something like that. Actually all of us guys over there get after each other a little bit but I know we could have a beer together.

No doubt I swing to the left, I don't know if that's my nature, pure stubborn, or just how I as raised. Very liberal family. My step father is a staunch republican though and he is a talking Rush Limbaugh so maybe that is where my anti republican side comes from. We do get along very well and maybe it's healthy to have one topic to debate about cause we are both die hard Viking fans and Packer haters.

This site seems to have a lot of hate towards one another, obviously people will not agree on topics or maybe we are just people who like to argue. I know I am missing the void now football is over. Twins/Brewers not the same, but I hope you guys even though we disagree and say some vile things (me included) realize that we are all probably good people. OK enough of the fluff.

BP, I was leaning levity, but not quite sure. Don't really know where you actually stand on man made global warming, hence I didn't specifically address anything you said. I just teed off of my own global warming soapbox, a short and sweat version

I'm cool with levity, but you have to realize that not many lefties around here have a sense of humor, can't think of when one of the existing crew ever made me laugh (with them :))

poor vettard, bless his soul, did display some wit on a few occasions
