Here's a few angles to the Tech-Cal game:

Cal #3 on offense #4 on defense
Tech #7 offense #36 defense
Cal under Tedford is 9-0-1 away as favorite on natural grass as 14 point favorites or less.
Tech is 5-8 ATS on grass. 1-2 this year
Texas Tech faced the #19 toughest schedule. Cal #29
Tech is 2-3 ATS against bowl teams TY but has outgained them by 427-372 ypg
Cal is 4-1 ATS against bowl teams this year outgaining opponents by 155 ypg
Tech has the better passing game
Cal the better run game
QB-Cal
RB-Cal huge
WR-Tech
DL- Cal huge
LB-Cal
DB-Cal
Surface-Grass goes to Cal huge

Intangibles: Cal was obviously disappointed not to be in a BCS game. But I'm not buying for one minute the fact that this team won't play because of it. As stated above the grass surface is a big factor. And as it is in the Rose Bowl every year, the Holiday Bowl will have a huge Pac 10 fanbase advantage. Tech has won their last 2 bowl games against much lesser opponents. But this is by far the most prestigious bowl that they've been in under coach Leach. Tech has lost games this year against the Big 12's top 2 teams OU 28-13 and Texas 51-21. I want to add that in the OU game Stoops went against his "run up the score" attitude against good friend Leach and played a very conservative game as they always do before playing Texas. OU also took a knee at the 5 yard line with time running out or else the score would have been worse. And against Texas they showed their true self, and like with OU their offense coudn't get the job done. And their defensive line was outmanned badly by both teams. Cal has the #4 defense and more important has the #7 pass defense. I believe without Tech being able to utilize their speed on the natural grass surface like they do at home on astroturf, they are going to have problems with long drives against this Cal team. The dink and dunk passes aren't going to cut it here. Because of the wide receiver situation with Cal I expect to see a lot of running in this game with their outstanding RB J.J.Arrington. And RB and FB catching passes coming out of the backfield. I don't believe Cal is that one dimensional without their leading WR Geoff McArthur. Remember what "One Dimensional" Texas did to Tech's defense. Tech will get their fair share of yardage here, but like they do against other good defenses they'll have trouble punching it into the endzone because of their lack of a running game. I expect Cal to take care of business here. Because of injuries it won't the big blowout it would have been. But enough to cover the 12.5 spread here. CAL wins 34-17

Good luck to all!

Rumor is that Cal not excited to be in San Diego and Tech is geeked to be playing here. Bettors probably thinking that Cal comes out very, very flat.

BadLuck the o/u is at 65 right now. It's gone down from 67. Good luck. I hope Tech scores some points. But not too much if you know what I mean.

Local news is just loving that Tech got a big bowl and the players have absolutely been loving it. don't know about Cals attitude but Tech is sky high.

In a game that I wouldn't be surprised to see Tech win straight up, I think that Tech is a pretty good play.

I'm having a lot of trouble believing that Cal has lost interest. Remember, they've only been in 1 bowl game in the last 8 years. They're not exactly a spoiled BCS team. I'm finding it hard to believe the second best team in the Pac 10 isn't 10 points better on a neutral field than a team that was no better than 4th in the Big 12 South. Last night Okie St. who finished 5th in the Big 12 South was favored by 4 over an Ohio St. team who was the best or second best team in the Big 10 at the end of the year. These lines are crazy. But i think they have it about right with Cal with their injuries and all.

Cal is no doubt the best team, but with the attitude that Tech has and the mindset that "could" be in the Cal players minds today the points is my choice of sides here.

Posting from the Bay Area here.

Local news and the city is pumped up for this game. Why??? Because they're expecting to see Cal empty the tank on Texas Tech tonight.

-Rose Bowl snubbing.
-Arington and Rogers dissed for the heisman. (Arrington had 100 yards in every game he played INCLUDING USC)
-Tedford signs contract extension
-Aaron Rogers verbally commits to returning next year.

Trust me this team if pissed the **** off. This game is bascially a message to the Rose Bowl and BCS committee showing what they're gonna be missing out on since lowsy Texas will be playing instead.

to let you know, I'm a USC fan. However living here in the Bay Area I've kept a close eye on Berkley all season long. Believe me when I tell you this. They are not by any means let down. They've gotten over it. As a matter of fact they can't wait to play this game specifically because of the disrespect they've continued to recieve from the national consensus.

Public will be on the right side tonight and personally I'm pounding them hard. Even if the line goes as far as -14 I won't be concerned.

CAL WILL RUN THE SCORE UP

Arrington's already been quoted in saying they're dying to run the score up to silence the naysayers.

I've got a friend in the Bay area. I've already heard the same thing. Arrington's going to have a hell of a night. I've seen him play a couple times this year. He's a great back. Big Cal offensive line against a bad Tech defensive line. Arrington gets at least 150 yd. rushing tonight.

that'll also open up the playaction to whomever Rogers has left. He's still a helluva QB to make things happen to the 2nd stringers. TT D sucks anyways

the one thing to keep in mind is that at 10,11 or 12,the backdoor will remain open with a wide open passing team never letting up......

that`s enough to ruin it for me....

I admit this isn't my strongest play of the year. But for the most part the best defensive teams have won in this bowl season. Plus I like this line a lot better at 10 than I did 12.5. Tech will come out firing. They can be a little hard to get used to with their crazy offense. They consider a running play a 5 yard pass to their halfback. It's crazy but it seems to work for Leach. Cal has had a month to work on it though. If Cal utilizes their time consuming running game like I think they will, this game could stay under the total.

Cal saw the same scheme against USC. Who executes that offense far better than the Raiders

OU also did a good job of keeping that short RB pass contained when they played Tech. You just got to be sure to keep the RB in front of you after the catch. Cal's speed on defense should be able to take care of it.

I see a lot of Tech recievers slipping on the natural turf. Big advantage for Cal. Man, Leach hates to kick the ball whether it's punting or kicking. I know it killed him to kick the field goal down there. Like I said Tech can move the ball, but they can't get it in the endzone because they don't have a running game. If Cal generates just a little more offense they should take care of the spread.
