Reggie Roby, Marketing & Development Director ~ This University of Iowa graduate is a former NFL punter who spent 16 years playing for many teams, including ten years with the Miami Dolphins and stints with the Washington Redskins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Houston Oilers, Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers before retiring in 2002. During his football career, Reggie spent much of his free time speaking to kids about the importance of education and character. When he learned about Backfield in Motion’s innovative programs, he immediately signed on. “With Backfield in Motion, I can do more than just talk to kids about the importance of education, staying off drugs and building character. I can help show them how it’s done,” he says.

Former punter Reggie Roby dies

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Former All-Pro punter Reggie Roby died Tuesday at the age of 43.

The Miami Dolphins, whom Roby spent 10 of his 16 NFL seasons, confirmed his passing on their website, but the cause of death is unknown.

Roby was reportedly found unconscious and without a pulse this morning by his wife in the couple's Nashville home. He was immediately taken to the Saint Thomas Emergency Department where he was pronounced dead at 8:35 a.m. (et).

Saw Reggie hit the roof of the Metrodome in pregame practice while in college at Iowa................he was simply awesome.
