Here are tonights selections:
7 Units Duquesne -2.5 (WON 79-76) +7.00 UNITS
Not much going on from these two last minute entrants. They are on a combined 3-13 run heading in the A-10 tournament. UMass is on a 1-7 run following a 69-65 loss to Richmond Saturday. Massachusetts (10-18, 4-12 Atlantic 10) scored four straight points to cut the deficit to 66-64 on Jeff Viggiano's layup with 29 seconds to play but that ended their closing threat. Rashaun Freeman's 27 points led Massachusetts and Art Bowers added 12. Duquesne is on a 2-6 run after losing to Dayton 73-69 this weekend. Jimmy Tricco led Duquesne with 18 points and Bryant McAllister tallied 13 points for the Dukes. Coach Dan Nee will build for next season and play his underclassmen, 6-9 freshman Kieron Achara will play over half the game at the five-spot and Nee will find lots of minutes for sophomore guards such as Jack Higgins, Bryant McAllister and Ryan Tricco. Duquesne won the first meeting 88-62 and that should be a pretty good indicator the Mass doesn’t have much after the big guy. UMass is playing a smaller starting five with four perimeter players joining 6-9 Rashaun Freeman (15 ppg).
