I consider myself to be rather young in age (will be 34 next month). After reading about all of these people dying from freak accident (Natasha Richardson), disease (Farrah Fawcett), co-dependancy (Jacko) and now what appears to be murder-suicide (McNair). It makes me wonder if life is too precious and we are too fragile as human beings.

I remember when I was little I saw Danny Kaye appear on an episode of The Cosby Show and then shortly after drop dead. Same thing with Andy Gibb appearing on Punky Brewster and then ODing. I thougt to myself wow death is real it is not just an old age thing. These guys were just guest stars on sitcoms and now they are dead.

So I fast forward to the present and seeing more and more of these famous people dying along with the friends and family I have lost over the years. I wonder if we were put on this earth to live life or try to avoid death. It seems like every little thing that we do actually slowly or rapidly contributes to our own death. The best tasting foods are bad for your health, working a stressful or labor intensive job can shorten your life, the people we associate ourselves with can end your life, the lack of or too much exercise we do can cut your life short too. Plus not to mention the little hobbies and activities we do can kill us prematurely. Then there are the unexplainable things like getting lung cancer without even smoking (Christopher Reeves wife) that can end us.

I know my ramble isn't really going anywhere here but I just feel that everyday we wake up our fates in life are in our own hands on how we choose to live it but how our life ends is in the hands of somebody else which just doesn't seem fair.

Of course we are fragile, all it takes is a 1 milisecond mistake and we are dead but the thing to realize is that our fate is not even (necessarily) in our own hands. All it takes is someone to say 'fuck it' to a stop light and hit you and you are gone.

Life is tough and as you said its not (necessarily) fair.

All The More Reason To

live life to it's fullest. And to enjoy the simple pleasures, i.e. family, friends, and our health. I'm ancient now, but looking back I was given 5 great kids, a good Mom & Brother, 2 BEST friends, & 2 great ladies, considering the kind of life I've lead, pretty lucky all in all! :toast:

Whew... thanks for the post. I was just going to do a walk-on role on NYC Prep. Won't do that now. I agree with the quote, that you guys were talking about, "Get busy betting or get busy dying." or whatever it was... Angel/Baltimore 7/5 OVER 10 official pick.

Don't forget Billy Mays. He was the most important person that died.

I think there's always one death that really resonates with you, that kind of shocks you and puts things in perspective. For me it was John Ritter. I'm not saying I didn't care about all the deaths leading up to his, but there was just something different about his. Not just because he was young, but because when I was a kid I watched Three's Company religiously (yeah, I know, I was a strange kid). I guess I felt like in some crazy way I knew him or something. At any rate, that's the first "celebrity" death that actually hit me pretty hard.

Billy Mays' death hit me pretty hard. I mean it was just yesterday he was talking about oxi clean. Michael Jackson to me was dead for years. He rarely came outside. Steve McNair shouldn't have been screwing around. Guy was married with kids so you can chalk it up to karma.
