First and foremost I am a UGA homer. I have watched every Bama and UGA game this year.

That out of the way: Here is why is took UGA -2 (the game opened up a pick'em in Vegas)

UGA strengths: offensive line, Nick Chubb, and Sony Michel, A quarterback who has more than held his own, home field advantage

Bama strengths: coaching, "A nothing to lose, everything to gain attitude, entering Sanford stadium," Derrick Henry

UGA weaknesses: We have been a bit soft on the secondary coverage, however Bama is yet to find there rhythm in the passing game.

I am looking for a 24-17 game.

Your imput is appreciated.

An excerpt from the AJC:

LAMBERT AND CHUBB
200.98
Greyson Lambert’s QB rating this season, which is the best in the SEC and third nationally, behind only Baylor’s Seth Russell and Southern California’s Cody Kessler. Lambert also ranks second in the nation in completion percentage (76.5), behind only N.C. State’s Jacoby Brissett, and Lambert is fourth nationally in yards-per-attempt (10.8).
183.3
Lambert’s passing yards per game, which is 80th in the nation. But a great completion percentage and zero interceptions tend to more than make up for that.
27
Number of points Ole Miss managed against Vanderbilt’s defense, a week after scoring 43 on Alabama. Vanderbilt’s defense currently ranks 34th nationally and fifth in the SEC after facing offenses that ran in the top 25 nationally: Ole Miss (11th), Western Kentucky (21st) and Georgia (23rd). So all this is to put into perspective Georgia’s one shaky offensive performance this season.
149.8
Nick Chubb’s rushing yards per game, ranking second in the SEC and sixth nationally. First in both categories is LSU’s Leonard Fournette (210.3).
ALABAMA VS. GEORGIA
4
The national rank of Alabama’s run defense, yielding 56.8 yards per game to Ole Miss (47th nationally in rushing offense), Wisconsin (55th), Middle Tennessee (82nd) and Louisiana-Monroe (126th). As for Georgia, it is averaging 257.8 rushing yards per game, ranking 17th nationally.
24
The national rank of Georgia’s run defense, yielding 107.3 yards per game to South Carolina (38th), Vanderbilt (104th), Louisiana-Monroe (126th) and Southern (FCS team.) As for Alabama, it is averaging 202.5 rushing yards per game, which is 45th nationally.
61
The national rank of Alabama’s pass defense, yielding 210.3 yards per game. The teams it has played rank 12th (Ole Miss), 21st (Middle Tennessee), 70th (Louisiana-Monroe) and 76th (Wisconsin) in passing offense.
23
The national rank of Georgia’s pass defense, yielding 166 yards per game. The FFBS teams it has played rank 35th (Vanderbilt), 70th (Louisiana-Monroe) and 114th (South Carolina) in passing offense.
6.3
The yards-per-attempt by Alabama quarterbacks, which ranks 107th nationally and second-to-last in the SEC. The collective QB rating of Alabama quarterbacks ranks 84thnationally and 10th in the SEC.
11
Sacks by Alabama this year. Georgia has given up only three sacks.
8
Sacks by Georgia this year. Alabama has given up five.
THE COMMON OPPONENT
92
Total yards of offense for Louisiana-Monroe at Alabama on Saturday, including just nine rushing.
251
Total yards for Louisiana-Monroe when it played at Georgia on Sept. 5, with 206 of it coming via passing yards.
303
Total yards for Alabama against Louisiana-Monroe, 137 via the run and 166 via pass.
435
Total yards for Georgia when it played Louisiana-Monroe, including 243 on the ground and 192 through the air.

Should be a good game. UGa wins this game is they come into it not believing the Bama hype. I think in situations like this, where one team has had unparalleled success, the other sometimes will hold the team in "awe" instead of looking at them as equal and having a job to do. Look at Miss, they know they can beat Bama. A team like Auburn probably still has kids on their team that would say the same. That's the mentality the Dawgs need for this one.
I think the UGa OL/TE v Bama front 7, will be the key here. If they can protect QB Lambert and allow him to play action and throw against the Bama secondary, UGa will roll. I see a huge advantage for UGa up front. They will also need to run the ball with Chubb, Michel and others. I'd also like to see QB Lambert on some designed boots outside of the pocket (pull a guard with him) and give him run/pass option. I don't like the Bama secondary in coverage and if they drag the TE across the field, you can get some really big plays on them.
I don't like the Bama QB crew. Because of the lack of confidence, if they get down early it will cause them to press a bit. Also when things go bad, and they always do for good team, they tend to press. There does not seem to be a calming figure on the Bama sidelines and both these guys are young from a "snaps taken" perspective. But I do want to see if they will be able to run against UGa.

Alabama (Must) run the ball on Georgia to win. Dating back to 2008, when Bama rushes for at least 140 yards
they are 74-4.

The problem is Kiffin's play calling. Bama has a bigtime runner in 6-3, 242 pound Derrick Henry. Henry
only got the ball 10 times in the second half against Ole Miss.

Alabama also has to hold onto the ball...7 turnovers in the past two games.

I want to see if their OL can open up some holes between the tackles. I've not been impressed so far and I don't think Henry can get to the corner consistently on SEC calibur defenses.

Lots of 3-and-outs from both teams.

Not so sure. Not that I think they'll break out to be like TCU/Tx Tech but I can see teams driving. I see play from 30yd line to 30yd line. Still wonder if Bama trusts their PK. Could be critical to their playcalling.

[I think the UGa OL/TE v Bama front 7, will be the key here.]

I agree. In the first 4 games UGA's offensive line for the most part has looked dominant. This has lifted QB Lambert's effectiveness as well as confidence. I imagine Chubb and Michel should be sufficient in the running game. We should be able to mix up short passes and pro style quick snap runs. If Malcolm Mitchell along with the TEs can provided a few grabs on down and distance , UGA should score some points.

In terms of Alabama offense, the QB play against Ole Miss looked concerning. These numbers aren't overtly impressive either. Agree that Derrick Henry will need to have a big day.

Yessir!! That tells me a couple of things on the Bama:
1) the qbs are not reading defenses well/quick and are being indecisive - or-
2) the OL is not as good as we've been led to believe -or-
3) the receivers are not getting good separation/qb not comfortable throwing into windows

Alabama's QB play has been absolutely terrible against the blitz. I expect a lot of run plays and quick screens from them. If GA can control the line of scrimmage on DEF, Bama will have to score on DEF/special teams to win this one.

Lambert has been a surprise. Have to remember: he's at UGA because he couldn't win the starting job at UVA.

I like Georgia to win & cover, but your projection of 41 points is wayyyyyy too low. I'll be pulling hard for a Georgia victory in this one. :)

If they don't burn Blake's redshirt, Georgia will win by 7-14 points. You heard it here again from the Alabama alumni and die hard fan that put his biggest bet of the year on ole miss 2 weeks ago.

Georgia's quarterback is "PERFECT" for Alabama's defense.

Look at the QB's who have hurt the Bama Defense...(AIN'T) a pocket passer who can't run.

Swalker, I'm an OLD fart but you are chasing pigs on this one.

Alabama will beat Georgia...me being a Bama homer has nothing to do with my prediction.

Cloverleaf, everyone thought I was wrong 2 weeks ago as well...I also believe our defense matches up better against Georgia and we will slow them down. But, that is not where the problem lies sir. We have no QB play and our wide receiver core does not separate and is average at best.

Swalker, we are on the same side my friend.............

........just disagree on this game.

I love Nick Chubb (#6 averaging 149.8) but I also have confidence in Derek Henry (#29 at 105.5 ypg). The difference in this game
is Alabama's DEFENSE.....may lose, hell its only $500....but I LOVE my chances.

GL to you partner.....even if I don't mean it.

@CoachCB. Lambert very surprisingly played well and I would note that he has had good protection, he has been getting the ball out quickly, he has been making good decisions, and most of all he has been giving receivers very catchable balls. I can't say the same about Coker.
