I was dropping off my girlfriend yesterday for her trip to Chile when I noticed that VIP Room that I have heard all about for $25 the other night.

You get wireless internet, nice chairs, satellite TV and there's a bar... but I'm sure you have to pay for the drinks.

I usually just get a bottle of Crown from the Duty Free, a coke from the Burger King (no way in hell am I paying for THOSE breakfasts, haha) and truck away until boarding time...

Has anyone tried this lounge, and what are its hours? I usually fly back to the States early, like between 7-8 AM so it's probably not open for me to sit and get blasted before going to Dallas, Houston or Miami, hahaha...

Thanks for the help...

I heard many of the you need to subscribe a service or something. Like $100 a month. Not sure though. I usually spend the extra 2-300 bucks a tickets rather than wait in the airport.

THE SMOKING LOUNGE IS DISGUSTING. I did see someone light up a doobie once. the air was so thick that you couldn't even smell it.

I find it utterly stupid that they charge you to use it, I am glad I don't smoke, I might end up in jail if someone charges me 5 bucks to use a smoking lounge................................there is no difference between the crooks that run that lounge and the cuidacarros

The other thing is that you get free wireless service in the gates (I have only tried it in a couple so I dont know how big the coverage is)

haha, not what I'm talking about Del Sol... this lounge is new, I flew back here in late March and it wasn't open yet, just saw it yesterday...

Haven't heard that B-Diz... shoot me a PM with your number and I'll get back to you with mine, you can let me know next time you come to the WEST SIDE and I'll holler when I get back over to San Pedro...

wolfie: I got it the last time on my VAIO too, but the time before the shit wasn't working, so who knows... again, I think it's a different lounge you're talking about (and I don't smoke either)...

the lounge where they charge you for smoking , its the one downstairs
the VIP lounge is the one where you pay 25 dollars and it should be a much nicer place
the wireless internet I am talking about is the one at the gates at the end (I think its 4/5/6?), the new section

I just flew out of SJO a few days ago.

Didn't see any VIP lounge, but then again, I wasn't looking for one. No way I'm paying money to sit in a "VIP lounge".

I always show up at the airport about an hour and 20 minutes before the plane leaves (just in time so I am almost the last one to check in). Then make a beeline to the bar/smoking room downstairs. They didn't charge me an entrance fee this last time. Then I order 2 double screw drivers and drink those in 15 minutes. Smoke a few cigs. Then head to the gate 25-30 minutes before departure. By this time they are already boarding, and I just get right on the plane.

Oh and the smoking "lounge" in the airport here is wayyy better than the smoking lounge in the international concourse in ATL in terms of air quality.

The $25 VIP lounge in the airport is worth the money. Way more worth it than blowing $8 on a whopper value meal at the Burger King.

ABACO I can tell you that ATL is way better than MIA which unfortunately I am stuck with because thats where most flights to Antigua and other egaming "destinations" go to

The alcohol is not free, but not incredibly overpriced either. Like $3-5 a drink. And sometimes they have 2 for 1's. There are free snacks, telephone, internet, nice couches. Worth the cash if you have a couple of hours to kill and do not want to shop in the stores.

:103631605 good point at least u have where to smoke in ATL!
MIA can be quite exhausting and very boring so i guess ur right but hey there are worse! but u know now that i think about it my hate is towards Delta is the only airline i've used to go to ATL they always lose something even on local flights!!!

i hate the miami airport as far as smoking goes. especially if you have to hop on that tram thing to your boarding gates. takes forever to get outside, so when i end up at that airport i always stay outside for about an hour smoking away. i usually fly AA and they always stop in miami. if i fly Taca they go to San Salvador then straight to boston. i prefer to fly Taca but end up getting a better deal flying AA.
