Im planning on making the swing to the Big Apple for this race. Never been to this track before. I see tickets have been moved to Ticketmonster for sale at 1030 this morning. Can any one tell me what I could expect if the only ones available are grandstand general admission or preferred grandstand general admission? Going with a pal who has a bum leg and would need to sit down occaisionally, is there seats or benchs available in the grandstand areas? I gonna check for better seats than that- they appear to have been in the $200 range, but those may be gone already..any other info o/tips on attending this would be appreciated...Thanks Bob

There are rumblings that Chrome might not run due to an issue with nasal strips; best to wait because ticket prices will fall through the roof if he doesn't run.

Not to worry, Chrome's running, NYRA made their ruling this morning. Have a good time and make sure to bet AGAINST him in the big race!

place is going to be a zoo...in all honesty I would suggest buying in the secondary market and getting a seat if your travelling with someone who might have difficulty getting around...ill be in section r row c :)

Thanks tanner- im checking out stub hub and such now.. I seen Nyra passed on remaining gen admission ticket sales to Ticket master...how big a crowd? I was at the derby last year on a very rainy day and in the end, despite having a bench seat, was wet and very tired, despite being up a hundo!

Weather will play a factor is attendance...102k is the record but with the additional stakes added this year plus triple crown on the line I expect it to be broken...reserved seating is something like 30k-40k capacity

I heard Steve Cauthen on the sports radio the other day taking about his Triple Crown races on Affirmed (1978) against Alydar.
Steve said that California Chrome reminds him of Affirmed and he feels California Chrome will be able to win the Belmont and thus become the newest Triple Crown Champion.

That is something from the Jockey that rode the last Triple Crown Champion.
