Hey Guys - I've heard varying opinions on the availability (and legality) of prostitution in CR. Whats the story : Is it legal ? Is it reasonable ? Where to go ? Where are the girls from ?

Yes, its legal. Just go to the Del Rey and you'll have about 40 chicks to choose from. Bout half of em will be CR'an, the rest is an assortment of nations, like the UN.

its a hotel in downtown san jose with a casino and a bar down near the lobby. its usually packed with what you're looking for and as I said they're from all over the place. Is it reasonable? I have no clue, someone else will have to field that one.

There are also hookers out on corners here and there, the ones here are real girls, the ones there are not. You'll have fun deciding which is here and which is there....

Nick,there are many such bars to choose from.Sleazy and cheap up to upscale and expensive.

Judge and Slim - Thanks for your responses. Are American tourists welcomed or looked down upon in San Jose ? Don't want to be somewhere, in this day and age, where we'd be getting dirty looks for being from "The Great Satan" .

Dude you gotta be kidding. There are probably thousands of places to get that stuff in CR. Del Rey, Key Largo, Monkey Bar, El Pueblo to name a few. There are also numerous strip joints that offer "questionable services."

The place is *****r central. I recommend reading up on it at a site called www.costaricaticas.com.
