Last day of the regular season, which is usually a bittersweet time as it is exciting to have March Madness but it is disapointing to not have all of these games to cap several times a week. Lets enjoy it while we still have can.

Today I will be taking:

**** Virginia Tech Hokies +6

Think this is a game that the Hokies need alot more than FSU and will be playing with an edge. Senior night for FSU but it is a pretty young team and I don't expect this group to be overly emotional. Statistically these are two similar teams. I know FSU has the reputation for playing great D but the Hokie D hasn't been terrible either (holding opponents to 42 % shooting and 26 rpg over the last 5 games). I just see this as a low scoring grind-it-out kind of affair and in those cases the points are always appealing, especially when FSU needs to win by 3 possessions to cover.

Both of these teams do a great job holding onto the ball (11 TO's a game apiece) and I think that stylistically both teams are very smilar (long athletic big men with quick penetrating guards). IMO this game is tight the entire way and VT should have a chance late for the outright W.

Have a few more that I like today. BOL everyone :toast:

*** Wake Forest/Clemson O 153.5

Expecting a high scoring affair with Wake setting the tone in this game and both teams running up and down the court alot. Both of these teams shoot the ball well (50 % for wake and 49% for Clemson) and score about 80 points a game. I expect this one to be both teams have a defensive A/TO ratio higher than 1 lately so to me this means alot of full posessions that end in shots. Both teams also are strong on the offensive boards so I expect a decent number of put back baskets.

Really like playing overs with spreads in the 3-6 range as if these games play out like the oddsmakers expect their will likely be alot of fouling down the stretch. I think both teams get into the 80's today so we shouldn't need the help but its a good thing to have on your side imo..

Still working on the side, and the Duke/Carolina game..

*** Clemson Tigers +4.5

Another Senior Day that isn't as much as a big deal as some others will be because Wake is such a young team. Really like this match-up for the Tigers. They played terribly the first time around (22-77 from the field in the first match-up) and it was still a 1 point game with a few minutes on the clock. I just think that this is going to be a very fast paced game that goes back and forth pretty much the whole game.

Tigers have struggled lately because their defense isn't creating turnovers, but Wake has had some TO problems lately (16.8 TO's a game over the last 5). I think Clemson can match-up with Wake's speed and they should be able to play physically with the Deacs. Clemson is also stroking the long ball very well right now (42 % from 3) and they should be able to work out some decent looks from their strong ball movement on the perimeter (averaging 17 APG).

To me I like the Tigers because I think they will be a hungrier team today and they probably feel they have alot to prove today. These are two tournament teams and this game should be alot of fun. If Wake is winning late they are not a great FT team so the backdoor should be open if we need it. I'm thinking we wont. Tigers by 4

**** Duke/Carolina U 166.5

Feel like the Lawson injury is going to have a big impact on the pace of this game. Fully expect Lawson to go but I just don't see how he can be the same player, as his game is all about his speed and ability to blow by people. He will still be fast but I have to question if he will still have that extra gear.

Duke also playing alot better defense of late since the switch to Williams in the backcourt. I feel like K knows that a shootout is his worst nightmare and I expect Duke to do everything they can to slow the pace here. I think this game ends up in the 150's..

you and me both, this is one of my favorite totals of the season. People are betting the over like the game has already been played and that is usually ^<<^

Think both teams have alot on the line here and I doubt they both come out with both barrels blazing. Gonna go ahead and make this one a strong play

** Duke Blue Devils +8

Think Duke has improved alot since the last meeting and this game to me is shaping up to be a battle. When in doubt, take the points...

Also have a half unit on Duke ML @ +300 but will not count that on the record as it is strictly ATS.. Im off to watch bball, hope everyone has a good day <><>

Against you on both sides today. I'm going big on Wake and medium on UNC. Wake Forest has the size to shutdown Booker and the speed to break the press.

I think the FSU game has a pretty big impact on which Clemson team shows up tonight. Purnell said that he wouldn't be surprised to see a letdown if his team sees FSU win their game. So, if tech manages to pull off the upset, we may see a hungry tigers team looking for that bye. Otherwise, I think Wake will get it done tonight because they just pose a lot of matchup problems with their length.

2-2-1 +0.3 units today

Was crappy on the sides today but the strong totals carried me to a small profit. Really excited for the ACC tourney in a few days and will likely be taking off from work for @ least Friday. Thoughts on the thursday games:

# 8 Virginia Tech Hokies vs # 9 Miami Hurricanes

My Line: Miami -3.5

Even though these 2 teams have very similar records VT is in horrible form right now and I see them struggling with the Miami zone and finding a way to contain McClinton on the opposite end.

#5 Clemson Tigers vs # 12 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

My Line: Clemson -7

Think the line will likely be a little higher than this but it probably shouldnt be. Clemson is having alot of defensive problems and Paul Hewitt's team has not quit on him yet. I like GT to hang tough against a sagging Clemson team. It also helps that the Jackets are playing in their hometown for this tournament.

#7 Maryland Terrapins vs #10 North Carolina State Wolfpack

My Line: Maryland -2

Neither team is ending the season especially hot but I have to think that the edge goes to Maryland here. State struggled defensively the first time around and its hard to see State finding any answers. Not sure what I will do here but I lean to the Terps early. This is probably the best game of the first round

#6 Boston College Eagles vs #11 Virginia Cavaliers

My line: Boston College -5.5

UVA is also playing decent towards the end of the year and should be able to hang with BC, at least for the first half. BC is likely in the tournament but needs at least 1 win to feel great about their chances. Think the under is probably the best play on this game...

Any thoughts?

Any futures out there in terms of an ACC Champion that you'd feel comfortable taking your chances on?

I like your write up on the VT/Mia game...........Hurricanes get the win by DD IMO. Also would lean to the over in Clemson game.
