A terrible act of racism at my beloved Ole Miss

James Meredith was the first African American to enroll at the U of Mississippi in I believe 1962... This set off a riot at Ole Miss.. You've prob seen the Ghost of Ole Miss.... Well There is a James Meredith Statue on campus at Ole Miss.... Yesterday morning there were 2 young men who defaced this statue by hanging a noose around his neck and throwing the Georgia State Flag on his back.... The 2 men were seen screaming racist slurs early yesterday morning.. Ole miss has offered a 25,000 dollar reward.

What are people thinking when doing this? As a proud Mississippian this really embarrassed the heck out of me... We in Mississippi, especially Ole Miss, have battled this reputation for decades. I really hope they find these two idiots. I'm sure this will make the national news today... Just like that 2 people can tear down what we've tried to build over the years...

A combination of both I guess. Do you not see how public shaming for blatant racist crimes is not really a deterrent? Particularly in places where outward racist behavior is still acceptable behavior.

I guarantee he's never been there. The fact that he's either alluded or flat out said that this is accepted there tells me all I need to know. Just ignorant on his part. Never understood why someone feels compelled to comment on something they have no knowledge of.
