Looking at their schedule from here on out the only possible win is at Arizona in week 11.
They're this years Cleveland Browns. I won't sell Gruden short, he's stocking draft picks
up the wazoo. Look for him to be respectable about the time he hits Vegas.
Hue Jackson he ain't.
As a long time Raider fan, I certainly hope you’re right – but the odds against success in the Gruden era with the Raiders don’t look good. Clearly, he has nudged out GM Reggie McKenzie as the man who will make player decisions, and, given his questionable choices in Tampa Bay - the evidence is mixed that Gruden is a good judge of talent. Combine that with a bean-counting owner like Mark Davis – whose preference for cheap rookie contracts over the retention of proven players is notorious - and the odds are that the Raiders are more likely headed in the direction of a ‘Matt-Millen-like-era’ than the promised land.
Also, that upcoming game vs Arizona? Based on what I saw last night, it’s more likely that Gruden’s Raiders will make the Cardinals look like an offensive and defensive juggernaut, and I’m hoping Derek Carr just survives in one piece.
