You're taking batting practice at either Yankee Stadium or Fenway Park.

Could you go deep?

How cool would it be to take BP at a MLB park :suomi:

I played in a game at the old Veterans Stadium in Philly...playing on the turf was wild..didn't go deep

always found it was easier to go yard during the games than during batting practice...tried too hard at times.
That being said, could def. park one at yankee stadium- Fenway i don't know, i played at a Fenway-modeled ballpark that Bucky Dent created in Florida, the wall is ridiculously high. not good for a righty-hitter in high school haha

I didn't play much hardball, more softball, but right field in NY is only like a tad over 300'.

Not even close. I was the definition of a gap hitter or other way hitter (damn bat speed) I could hit just about anything but never anything deep.

Definitely. MLB parks aren't any different than the fields I played on in high school and college plus the ball flies better in those parks. If you made good solid contact on a 85 mph fastball or higher, you could do it. That would be real cool.

The green monster is perfect for a righty.

First of all, I agree the deminsions of major parks are similar to many college and high school parks. But remember, most of the time, those players are using aluminum bats. If you're going up against high school pitching, hitting one out at Fenway, Yankee or any major league stadium is easily within reason. Hitting one out against a major league pitcher, would likely be a different story. But have to agree, hitting one our at a major league park would be real cool.

Yes, no doubt.

Would be tougher with a wood bat, but give me my Omaha Gold and there would be no doubt.

Hawkeye: Actually hitting a homer against major league pitching would be easier than high school pitching. Hitting the ball would be harder but if you hit it, it's going to go farther. Plus the wood bats have just as much pop as aluminum, the main difference is if you get jammed, the wood bats break where you can still get a hit pretty easily with aluminum. By the way, GO HAWKS!!!!!

Uh...no. Wood bats have pop, yes, but just as much as an aluminum bat? Not a fucking chance. There's a reason that there's now a movement in college baseball to switch to wood. It's far too dangerous.

As for hitting a HR...I'm sure many could groove a pitch over the wall in either stadium, but I think it'd take a pitcher throwing some decent heat, not soft-tossing it in there.

Former high school teammate of Hawkeye171 and myself, poster CY1981, once held the CAREER Home Run record at Iowa State University.

He may have allready accomplished this feat at some MLB park.

I believe Hawkeye and myself both could have gone deep in a MLB park.......when we were 18-20 years old that is.

Played in quite a few minor league parks myself in IOWA and ILLINOIS playing semi-pro and had a couple jacks........ of the wind aided and short fence variety.

You ever hit with a wood bat? I have and i'm telling you that they have a ton of pop. The main difference is that wood bats break if you don't hit it on the sweet spot and you don't necessarily have to hit the sweet spot on an aluminum bat to hit it as far.

Yes, I have...and like I said, a wood bat has more than enough pop, but to equate it to that of an aluminum bat is going too far.

I don't think so if you compare the sweet spots of the two.
