A hypothetical question abvout courage!

I have a hypothetical question - more for the guys than for the gals - but all can answer:

You're with a friend in a bar room, or some other place full of unsavory characters. You're debating a political issue with one of the unsavory characters - it gets a little heated on his/her part and he/she starts to make veiled threats of physical violence. You want to avoid the violence, but it seems less and less likely that this person will let you leave without a fight - and a growing number of his/her friends start to gather around - glaring at you.

Yup - it looks like you ain't getting out of there without taking some serious lumps - you're afraid, but you have some balls, so you ain't going to lay down for these thugs.

Who do you want the friend with you to be? Me? or Doc?

Please explain why you made your choice?

I think that you're both a teeny bit too old for a bar scramble and you should both stick to flicking rice-pudding at each other across that dining table in the nursing home.

Frankly I wouldn't get into an argument over politics in a bar, anymore than I would want to debate abortion or religion.......as they are all heated topics with people differing on what side they are on and to what degree....

If one of you was like 6' 12" and a black belt, it might make a difference if I was looking to start a fight and get out in reasonable shape....

Is the bar we're in an overseas bar, where one can check the box claiming "no overseas service".....or is it a place I can get like five deferments and just opt out that way?

Give me BB. It's happened a couple of times to me before, not over politics though. When it becomes apparent you cannot leave w/o a fight you level the biggest mouth of the group. You throw the first punch and you have a chance of the others backing off and you walking out. If they jump you it may end ugly for you. You have to crush the guy in your face, one punch and a KO. That's the best shot. Chances are the others are all talk and when their hero falls the others will back off.
