If you want to increase your chances of WINNING at sports betting, there is a way to do it besides fading me as of late...

If you look carefully at PINNACLE'S lines just before a game goes off, and you see that PINNACLE has an OPINIONATED line, I would bet WITH PINNACLE...

Now you have to be careful because PINNY sometimes puts out traps, but for the most part, when they are BEGGING you to wager on one side, either bet the opposite way (because they know something you and I don't) or run for cover...

My 2 cents...

Shrink- begging for a side??

If you see like Colorado +22.5 +102 is that what you mean (most places had 23 at the time). I always use Pinnacle for that reason you mentioned, but I don't have a handle on the begging for a side.

I think its great advice if you can interpret the moves of Pinnacle you can unlock a key to handicapping, just not sure how to do it the best way yet.

I look at their opening lines not closing. If they opened up at Bills -3 -122 I am going with the Bills.

Does this go for the juice too Shrink? Like this:

Knicks -3 -108
Jazz +3 -102

The Knicks would be the line to take. You can correct me if I am off base here.

One of the main reasons I am now at 19-3 on the NBA this season.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but by opinionated and begging to take a line I think of situations like where most books have +6.5 on a team and Pinnacle has +7.5. They are begging you to take the +7.5. Go for the team that is on the other side. Except bet the -6.5 at other books.

I've noticed this to be true especially in games where there is a lot of action rather than the "Towson State vs. Indianola" type games.

Although THE SHRINK makes a good point about looking at the PINNY lines just before kick-off, to really fully gauge what side PINNY is shading takes looking at the line most of the day and being educated enough in how to read those lines correctly.

Although relatively easy, it is more complicated than you may imagine.

TT,

If you see Pinny's opening line differ from the others I think it just means someone recently made a max bet. A couple of times I made an early max bet there and then the line looked pretty funny afterwards. They'll take a guaranteed one point profit over exposing themselves to a loss, thus the weird looking lines. A late skewed line OTOH represents a lot more action and therefore contains more info. IMO. Whether that's sharp or square action, though, is another story.

.....

I don't understand the cheerleading about pinnacle but that's just me. I have beaten the hell out of them this year and to be honest I am not even having a good year. I LOVE pinnacle as a sportsbook, but they aren't unbeatable. In my 3 years of gambling, I have won there every year.

There is no question that Pinnacle is one of the harder outs to beat. Of course, there will always be some who win as well.
