May be a stupid question, but why isn't the Super Bowl played on a Saturday instead of a Sunday? It's not like no (playoff) games are played on Saturdays, because there are. The SB is usually two weeks after the conference championships, not one so they have enough time to rest and get ready. If they play on Saturday, Bars could make more money, companies would have better production from their employees on that Monday (people wouldn't call in "sick" / employees aren't going into work drunk or hung over. Am I wrong, what do you think?

You make good points. Will be interesting to see if anyone has a logical explanation. As a teenager I attended the first game, which was not called the Super Bowl in 1967. It was the AFL-NFL Championship. Became the Super Bowl in the 3rd year I believe. Anyway, that first game was far from a sellout at the L.A. Coliseum which held 100,000. It wasn't the giant event it is today.

i think they made it a Sunday back then because NFL was used to playing Sundays. Since then it just stayed the same, not for any reason other than continuing the tradition. Now maybe they should rethink that decision for the reasons you state above.

Should move MLK day to Monday after Super Bowl and make it more of a national holiday. The crackers would love this.

I could only imagine the drunken chaos if the super bowl was played on a Saturday.

It would probably be easier for the people that make the trip to watch the game if the game was played on Saturday. They could then fly back on Sunday and be back to normal on Monday. But I would imagine that since the games are normally scheduled on a Sunday, they decided to keep the game that way.

lol

Everything in our town is closed MLD day except the company I work for.

When we asked for that day to be given to us as a paid holiday, the head-honchos said "ok, but we'll give it to you but take away Labor Day".... :ohno:

How about it remaining on Sunday but move the actual Kickoff up a couple of hours earlier...

I think it should be spread out into 4 weeks. You play the first quarter one week, then take a week break, come back and play the second quarter next Sunday etc etc

The truth is if it's not broke don't fix it. America has based it's life around Superbowl. Whether we go to work on Monday hungover or take off on Monday...we all watch the Superbowl (Usually in it's entirety). We love the commercials, the game & even the halftime show; although we complain about it. ALL on SUNDAY! Sunday is a traditional day for NFL football and I don't think this is anywhere on the NFL's radar. The NFL won't gain any money by moving the game to Saturday. So why would they care.

Now expanding the reg. season & playoffs...that's a different story.

Not to mention...Sunday Night Football games don't start until 8:25 pm and if they are good enough we stay up to watch those.

Prove It.

I am pretty damn sure you won't win this one OneZero
drunk OR hungover could at least contain drinking every 24-36hrs.. and when u take a week down into those segments I think scott might even qualify as being drunk or hungover in more hrs than we have in a week :):)
