I just posted this elsewhere yesterday. Please help me understand how one trains for this? Saw this little asian girl eat an ungodly amount and beat Chestnut. Do they purge after? I could not even get 4 down I think.

Congrats Tom! Its always the skinny guys winning. lol

I saw a show once about professional eaters and they spoke to a guy about his training habits, and he said that the night before the contest, he would swallow something like 5lbs of grapes whole - this apparantly distended his stomach enough to give him more space in there but the grapes would have broken down to liquids by the time the contest started.

Tom deserves some dough or funds put into a sportbook account for that even if we all have to chip in.

He knew what he was doing ahead of time, he didn't just throw that shirt on at the last minute.

Way to go Tom.....:toast:

Thanks guys

Local Fox and NBC stations were there also. Knowing the media coverage, how could I not wear a therx shirt. Open to negotiations to wear a tattoo of the logo for next years event

It feels odd to not be hungry today. Farting isn't too bad. Might be a good idea to stick to metamucil and wheat bran for the next couple of days

fuck I can't eat 3 Hot Dogs.....

good for him...and 3k to boot....well done

I agree with you!(<)<

If I ate 3 of those contest hotdogs, I would feel sick to my stomach and want to puke.
God bless this Tom guy. $3K? Props to him! :toast:
However, there's got to be a better way to make a living then eating these vile things! :smoking:

Some interesting facts .......

Common hot dog ingredients:
  • Meat by-products (or MSM) and fat
  • Flavorings, such as salt, garlic, and paprika
  • Preservatives (cure) - typically sodium erythorbate and sodium nitrite
An American Institute for Cancer Research report found that consuming one 50-gram serving of processed meat — about one hot dog — every day increases risk of colorectal cancer by 20 percent. The Cancer Project group filed a class-action lawsuit demanding warning labels on packages and at sporting events. Hot dogs are high in fat and salt and have preservatives sodium nitrate and nitrite, believed to cause cancer. According to the AICR, the average risk of colorectal cancer is 5.8 percent, but 7 percent when a hot dog is consumed daily over years.

Nice hardware Tom!!

I was wondering this morning if Tom ate in the same contest as Joey Chestnut and the skinny Asian lady so I searched on his name and came up with this contest. I was going to post too but didn't know if there was too much personal information to post.

Glad you wore TheRX shirt Tom. I wonder how many people were trying to read your shirt in the video and wondering what TheRX was. LOL!

fasting would not be a good idea IMO because you shrink the stomach. Obviously the larger it is pre-event the better off you would be. Kobeashi, whatever his name is, mentioned training but did not give secrets. i would never attempt but just curious as to how someone could consume a big portion of their body weight in one sitting.
Strange. Again, nice job Tom.

Like most things, frequent practice with the most specificity. Eating 30 hot dogs in a few minutes would obviously be the most specific thing. And for obvious reasons shouldn't eat 10 000 Calories of fat and a few days worth of salt too frequently. Fruits and veggies and protein is less specific, but definitely a better choice if you're going to eat eight to 10 pounds
