I have heard this on more than one occasion.

Nope.

  • "Put on a personal level, reducing such expenditures as foreign aid or congressional salaries would save each working American a few cents or a few dollars per year.
  • There are really only three expenditures big enough that they have great impact on the budget; they are health care, defense spending and interest on the debt."

Lord Peter Bauer famously once said foreign aid is:

"taxing poor people in rich countries and passing it on to rich people in poor countries."

Using the IMF, the World Bank, and UN Economic funds are just funneling welfare for foreign elites. Besides, 15 Billion a year is what we spend on Aide, which is about the same as the NASA budget. Now while its only about 1% of the budget it is still quite a bit of money for something most Americans dont approve of. The only problem is, it makes us look cheap or selfish...and we are at a time where our image has taken a beating FWIW.

there is no such thing as "free" foreign aid

Smart man

Do people actually think the States are just giving away money from the kindness of they're own harts or are they getting something in return.

And about emlinating the national debt its not even close to 10,000,000,000,000 debt. I'd be suprised if it adds up to 100 billion a year someone here should be able to find the actual number.

You're confusing the national debt with the deficit. The national debt is indeed about 10 trillion and rising fast.

Make that number 12 illegal immigrants (more realistic #), and I agree with you 100%.

No I dont think I'm confused but maybe I am the original question was Could we eliminate the National debt? if we cut off all foreign aid.

So the national debt is 10 trillion and the question says if we cut off all foreign aid they could pay off the national debt of 10 trillion right?

And I said not even close

10.7 Trillion and counting, hell the interest alone on the debt is 450 billion annually now. :drink:

I heard all the tax money they take in per year only pays the interest on the loans & does'nt even knock any off the principal.
