BETFAIR - sponsored Canadian pro Sorel Mizzi has this week broken the Million Dollar mark in live tournament winnings in just under three years (2006-2008). The player, who is perhaps better known for his online skills playing under the username “Imper1um” or “zangbezan24” has transferred his online skills to the baize as he continues to cash in tournaments around the globe.

2007 was Mizzi’s breakthrough year. After picking up just $50k in 2006 last year saw him rake in over $500,000 in winnings, highlights included cashing three times in the 2007 World Series of Poker and coming third in the Irish Open which netted him €210,000. Sorel is set to end 2008 with another series of successes. He came close to winning his first bracelet at this year’s WSOPE £5,000 pot Limit Omaha Tournament but was “robbed” with just one card to come. He has put that unfortunate incident behind him and continues to dominate wherever and whenever he plays with his unique blend of applied aggression.

When you consider that he is just 22 years old it is not hard to see why he is feared both online and at live events. Together with fellow pros Betfair Annette Obrestad and John Tabatabai expect them to be dominating proceedings for years to come.
