Guys,

This will be for a high school graduate heading off to college. That's as much as I know. Any recommendations for a useful laptop brand / model that can be purchased by this weekend? I know "newegg" is a good source for the purchase, but I need to know a good model.

no macs or anything out of the ordinary. need a windows based system and not pricey

I recently bought an ACER Aspire 5520 from Newegg. The video playback is choppy when using an external monitor. I have had no other issues with it.

I bought the Aspire to replace an old ACER Travelmate. The travelmate is a more durable unit.

Spend a few dollars on an external Keyboard and mouse, because the touchpad and built-in keyboard are uncomfortable on any laptop.

A Macbook Pro. You won't even need anti-virus because most viruses are written for Windows :)
